I was thinking it could also apply to Australian films or Asian films that show tribal people in those lands.
TopBilled
Unconquered One of many great DeMille films TCM never airs. I think this is Paulette Goddard's best...better than the stuff she did with Chaplin. And we have Boris in an interesting role as a native. TopBilled
Jane Wyman --- "JOHNNY BELINDA" (1948) Such a great performance. I grew up watching Jane Wyman on Falcon Crest in the 80s. And when I first watched JOHNNY BELINDA in the 90s, I was blown away by her. I couldn't believe it was the same actress-- what incredible range! MarshaKatz
I'd like to see these on TCM. Continuing an earlier Projected Image series they did a few years ago. With many excellent films about handicapped characters they could add to the schedule. It certainly would be an enlightening series especially since the numerous films that continue to be made cover the disabilities and handicaps of individuals that have never seen the light of day in movies. It would certainly be a learning experience.
MarshaKatz
Good morning, TopBilled, Your subject was such an interesting one, it stayed with me, and I thought of several other performers who have appeared in films regarding characters with disabilities. Also, Lionel Barrymore had an astonishing career in films while working with the disabling disease of arthritis and hip injuries in a career filmed with great performances. Piper Laurie - The Hustler Dustin Hoffman - Midnight Cowboy & Rain Man Virginia Cherrill - City Lights Joanne Woodward - The Three Faces of Eve Sally Field - Sybil Clare Danes - Temple Grandin Gary Oldman - Immortal Beloved Jamie Foxx - Ray Arthur Kennedy - Bright Victory John Garfield - Pride of the Marines Edward Arnold - Eyes in the Night Leslie Howard - Of Human Bondage Robert De Niro - Flawless Al Pacino - Scent of a Woman Iris - Judy Dench Harrison Ford - Regarding Henry Julie Christie - Away From Her Gena Rowlands - The Notebook

Princess of Tap
Stromboli is a 1950 movie about a woman trying to survive as a World War II refugee and eventually fleeing a volcanic island, where she is also fleeing a marriage of convenience. Stromboli describes the Italian volcanic island, as well as the volcanic situation surrounding the relationship of the star, Ingrid Bergman, and the director, Roberto Rossellini, who married each other that year.

TopBilled
Forbidden Planet - for a disaster of the inner mind Interesting. Yes, I'm sure the word 'disaster' can be applied several different ways in movies. Shirley Temple losing her mother in BRIGHT EYES, was a disaster of epic proportions for her.
