DJBeacon
The majority of the Godzilla movies have at least major parts of Japanese cities being destroyed. Natural disasters: "2012" seems to have about 1/2 to 3/4 of all life on Earth destroyed
DJBeacon
In a more subtle sense that we don't see it happen but know it will: "Dr Strangelove..." (well we do see the Doomsday Device go off in the middle of nowhere at the end of the movie) "On the Beach" How about "The Birds" and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", have they won?

MarshaKatz
All Kinds of Disasters: Suez - terrific sandstorm sequence Gone With The Wind - Scene of wounded Confederate soldiers at the make-shift train station hospital and the burning of Atlanta The Greatest Show On Earth - Circus train wreck King Kong (1933) - Captured animal goes on rampage attacking New York City - great scene with the elevated subway The Hurricane - a monstrous South Pacific storm creates massive tidal waves and gale force winds Metropolis - the spectacular flooding scenes of the underground city The Rains Came - major earthquake and catastrophic flood sequence after a dam burst Das Boot aka The Boat - Claustrophobic disaster plagued U Boat during World War II The Ten Commandments - natural disasters during the plagues, the Burning Bush, and the parting of the Red Sea Airport - bomb explodes on a Boeing 707 which requires emergency landing at an airport that is inundated with snow making it tougher and tougher to clear a landing area for the plane. Runaway Train - Inmates from a maximum security prison board a runaway train which is speeding at high velocity, due to the engineer suffering a heart attack, causing the train to be on a collision course in the wintry Alaskan wilderness

TopBilled
We could also mention the bombing of Hiroshima in ABOVE AND BEYOND. Robert Taylor portrayed Lt. Col. LonesomePolecat
Every super hero movie has epic disasters which usually involve the superheroes destroying whole cities. Take your Superman, Batman & Avengers, though-- THE INCREDIBLES is my personal favorite Can't say AIRPORT without mentioning AIRPLANE, ha ha STAR WARS - "I felt a great disturbance in the Force..." ...and if we're talking about emotional disasters, what came to my mind is WHITE HEAT

TopBilled
Dean Stockwell Roddy McDowall Judy Garland This is a tougher category, because honestly, a lot of child stars do not last in the business beyond adolescence. I guess we could say Jane Withers soldiered on-- but doing commercials for sink cleanser was hardly on par with being a movie star in the 30s and 40s. TopBilled
Patty Duke Great one. To me, she never seemed like a kid. She did such towering work at a young age (the same as Tatum O'Neal) that she seemed like an adult before her time.

LonesomePolecat
Joseph Gordon Leavitt Barry Gordon Jane Powell was a "teen actress" but it's the same idea Emma Watson (aka Hermione) is playing the lead in the upcoming Disney live action remake of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, so we'll see how well she transitioned when that comes out Ron Howard transitioned into older teen roles as a young adult, does that count?
