Swithin
She was wonderful in Hitchcock's first version of The Man Who Knew Too Much; his Young and Innocent; and in Nine Days a Queen, in which she played Lady Jane Grey. RIP.
film lover 293
Nova Pilbeam & Derrick (sp?)de Marney were so good in "Young and Innocent" (1937)--especially the scene where Pilbeam is about to topple from a wrecked car into an abyss & de Marney grabs her by her fingers ( a warmup for several future Hitchcock scenes)--she apparently was a director's dream of an actress as well as a critics favorite--one of my favorite unsung actresses--R.I.P. Miss Pilbeam. TCM has "Young and Innocent" listed under the title "The Girl Was Young." PPS--TCM--I know you have just 6 credits listed for Nova Pilbeam--but Wikipedia lists 14--could you please do a tribute day for Nova Pilbeam--she made several good films & the ones she made for Hitchcock are essential to film history. At the least--run a commercial noting her death. Thank you.
