I believe she was Sam Goldwyn's girl, but it didn't work out:

Anna Sten.

She didn't become the star in America that Goldwyn expected. But she did go on to do a bunch of films at Fox, usually as a second lead. And she married an independent producer who put her in some of his films.

She's very good in THEY CAME TO BLOW UP AMERICA. But I think her best performance is in LET'S LIVE A LITTLE-- she's hilarious in that one. She never lost her looks, so even in her later stuff, she is still mesmerizing to watch on screen.

Your turn.

Immortalized by Cole Porter:

"When Goldwyn can with great conviction
Instruct Anna Sten in diction
Then Anna shows
Anything goes."

Brrrcold, I started a thread called "Briefly Lyrical". That's the kind of lyric with the kind of composer that I was wanting for participants in that thread to bandy about. It's certainly one of the more memorable clever things that Cole Porter wrote.

Please consider playing in that thread sometime.
