Veggie-based diets could save 8 million lives by 2050 and cut global warming

A global switch to diets that rely less on meat and more on fruit and vegetables could save up to 8 million lives by 2050, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by two thirds, and lead to healthcare-related savings. It could also avoid climate-related damages of $1.5 trillion (US), Oxford Martin School researchers have found.

The study, published today in the journal, Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences, is the first to estimate both the health and climate change effects of moving towards more plant-based diets for all major world regions.

*******************************************************************

I guess the people who did this study did not read the other study where we will be in a severe drought by 2050 so there won't be any vegetables to eat. No water to grow vegetables, no lives saved. See how dumb these studies are? This is what we are wasting billions of dollars on, another faked study pretending to be science.

yeah. meat-based or veggie-based flatulence, what's the diff?

Denver International Airport closed until further notice; 730-plus flights canceled

Airline passengers brave blowing snow during a blizzard at Denver International Airport March 23, 2016. Hundreds of flights were canceled.

"Passengers currently at the airport, please stay put until conditions improve," the airport said in a tweet. "Peña Boulevard is impassable."

Officials say weather and visibility are such that it is not safe for aircraft to arrive or depart.

**********************************************************************

What happened to all the global warming in Denver, they should have been planting cactus by now. But here is a snow blizzard of all things, and hundreds of flights canceled. So I wonder how they will spin this, maybe they need more money to study things. I'm guessing billions more - to tell us this was caused by - global warming.

right! god used adam's rib as source material. makes sense to me. :)

God doesn't like it when you don't capitalize his name.  Just ask Donny.  According to him he has a "great relationship with God."

Water boarding and torture!  Bring it on!  No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

They admit they had no explanation, what else do you need to know. So they come up with a global warming explanation instead of actually knowing why. There is no mystery about this, they were wrong because they can't predict the climate, just like they can't predict the weather for more than 1 day. Does anyone trust global warming predictions when they can't predict the daily weather? They had to finally say the truth that they were overstating everything when it comes to this scam. They also had to change the name of this crisis from global warming to climate change after all. That is because it wasn't doing what they promised.

They gave their reason in the very article. That's why you never

post a link to articles, because in many instances the articles

do not reflect the headline and your "explanation" underneath.

That's why you're the actual scammer. Maybe you should learn

the difference between climate and weather, then you wouldn't

be posting all these things about how a snowstorm in March

somehow proves there is no global warming. That argument

was laughed out of discussion years ago.

I would like to say that lying wingnut is redundant, but I won't go that far.

But that is the reason he never links to the entire article. Spoils the

simplicity. Wingnutman, using his superpowers for ill, not good.

Deservedly so. Most of his "arguments" are the same old

Feds Spend $1.4 Million Studying How Global Warming Will Harm ‘Fictitious’ Fishing Towns

Researchers with Yale, Rutgers and Princeton recently published a study examining how “fictitious fishing communities” were affected by “climate-driven shifts in fish populations,” according to a press release of the study. The study claims global warming will cause a massive “natural wealth transfer” from equatorial regions to northern latitudes.

According to their release, the researchers illustrated their case by modelling “potential outcomes in two fictitious fishing communities (Northport and Southport) in the face of climate-driven shifts in fish populations.”

The study was funded as part of three National Science Foundation (NSF) grants handed out in 2014, according to a Yale spokesman. In total, taxpayers gave scientists $1.4 million to examine how global warming could spur fish migrations — all by studying fishing communities that don’t exist.

*******************************************************************

If you can't find the data you need in the real world, you can always just make it up and publish that. This is what these "scientists" did here, making up fishing communities to help prove how damaging global warming is. And then they wonder why people are so skeptical of this scam, like anyone is going to believe a study done on fictitious fishing communities.

New Alaska butterfly species may hold clues to climate change

FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- A new species of butterfly could provide clues about Alaska's geological history and its changing climate, according to a University of Florida researcher.

Research by lepidopterist Andrew Warren suggests that the newly discovered Tanana Arctic butterfly evolved from the offspring of two related butterfly species, the Chryxus Arctic and the White-veined Arctic. He believes all three species lived in the Beringia region before the last ice age.

********************************************************************

They were telling us species were going to die off due to global warming, yet here we have a new species of butterfly they rediscovered. Not surprisingly, they want to see how it relates to climate change, and turn it into a global warming study of all things.

Scientists Say The Math Simply Doesn’t Add Up On Obama’s Big Global Warming Plan

The efforts of President Barack Obama and other world leaders to prevent global warming will almost certainly fail, according to a new study published recently by Texas A&M scientists.

“It would require rates of change in our energy infrastructure and energy mix that have never happened in world history and that are extremely unlikely to be achieved,” Glenn Jones, a professor of marine sciences at Texas A&M who co-authored the study, said in a Wednesday statement on Science Daily. “For a world that wants to fight climate change, the numbers just don’t add up to do it.”

***********************************************************

The math may not add up but the cost of this scam certainly does.

Obamas Take Two Separate Planes For Hiking Trip To Argentina

It was just about a year ago that Barack and Michelle Obama took separate planes from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles…on the same day! Well, the President who constantly chides Americans on the dangers of global warming is once again seemingly unconcerned about his own Yetti-sized carbon footprint!

As part of his trip to Cuba, the First Family is off to Argentina for a hiking trip. But is one plane enough for the Obamas? Evidently not.

*************************************************************

Maybe it takes two planes to tango in Argentina, lol.

Blind fish that crawls on land holds clues to evolution

One small fish in Thailand could hold insights into the evolution of life on earth and how primitive ocean-dwellers developed into animals that could walk on land.

Researchers from the New Jersey Institute of Technology have identified the walking cavefish, a fish that can walk on land and even climb waterfalls using its salamander-like limbs in the same way as a tetrapod, or a four-footed mammal or amphibian. So far, no other fish has been found with these anatomical features.

********************************************************************

There is no money in getting clues to evolution, you should have said this fish is trying to escape global warming and you would have been up for millions in funding. Too bad you didn't research this more, lol.

Less Dust (And More Hurricanes) With Warming

Dust blowing out of the Sahara Desert spreads all over the planet, even reaching the poles, and alters weather patterns. But scientists now say that the Sahara will generate less dust over the next century, as a result of global warming’s influence on wind patterns.

Among other things, reduced dust could help lead to increased hurricane formation in the Atlantic Ocean.

In a study published in the journal Nature, a team of American and French researchers, used a computer simulation of wind patterns to analyze Saharan dust over a 160-year period, from 1851 to 2011. They found that the airborne dust goes through cyclic periods of high and low concentrations.

********************************************************************

This is about as ridiculous as it gets, less Saharan dust is being blamed for more hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. I remember when we had the oilwell fires in the Persian Gulf war they also said we would have an environmental catastrophe - and nothing happened.

The conditioned use of air conditioners

During mid-afternoons, most of us can’t stand the intense heat and have the irresistible urge to stay indoors and crank up our air conditioners and let it operate on full blast. The irony? Well, the excessive use of air conditioners is in fact one of the largest contributing factors to global warming.

A lot of us think that air conditioning is an easy way to escape the hot weather, but have you stop to ponder the amount of electrical energy drained by an air conditioner? On average, one unit of air conditioner (wall/window-mounted) would consume around 1,100 Watts-hours per hour of continuous use while a refrigerator with the door ajar would consume around 358 Watts-hours per hour of continuous use. That’s a three-fold difference. Even with more energy-efficient air conditioners being introduced in the market, the air conditioner still dominates the title of being the ‘Most Energy Consuming Household Appliance”.

*************************************************************************

It looks like now they will go after air conditioners to stop global warming, as they are greedy and use lots of electricity. They even say it heats up the outside air. Well, duh, we want the air inside to be nice and cold, the heat has to go somewhere. So I don't think they get very far with this one.

The original argument was the ozone issue due to refrigerants.  More environmental friendly coolants have been introduced APPROVED by the EPA.

http://www.ac-heatingconnect.com/what-hfc-refrigerants-are-used-in-commercial-air-conditioning/

All my new window air conditioners and appliances are energy efficient which help mitigate my yearly electric use.  I won't use a heat pump - don't need one and uses more energy.

The globalist are doing everything to bring us down to third world status - but of course it don't apply to them living in their mansions EXEMPT from everything.

Mysterious falling rocks at Yosemite caused by climate change, study suggests

Increased temperatures may be the reason behind the falling rocks crumbling off the steep granite walls of Yosemite National Park in California, a recent study suggests.

This natural phenomenon occurs when rocks dislodge from the side of cliffs and crash down to the forest below. Researchers know that rockfalls are commonly triggered when tectonic stress or erosion fractures granite rock. This then allows rainwater to collect in the cracks, which breaks the rock by either decomposing it or freezing in the cracks.

They found that rockfalls are much more likely to occur at the hottest time of day during the hottest part of the year, /UPI reports.

******************************************************************

Anyone who has been to Yosemite can see that rocks have been falling for thousands of years off of the cliffs, so this is just another dumb attempt at linking global warming to something that has always been happening. Falling rocks, are you kidding me, lol.
