TRUMPISM IN CANADA

Recommended Posts

Exclusive: Trump invokes War of 1812 in testy call with Trudeau over tariffs-

"....Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a "national security" issue. In response,

Trump quipped to Trudeau, "Didn't you guys burn down the White House?" referring to the War of 1812.

The problem with Trump's comments to Trudeau is that British troops burned down the White House during the War of 1812. Historians note the British attack on Washington was in retaliation for the American attack on York, Ontario, in territory that eventually became Canada, which was then a British colony...

"The idea that we are somehow a national security threat to the United States is, quite frankly, insulting and unacceptable," Trudeau told NBC's Meet the Press.

Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland questioned the Trump administration's move on CNN.

"And I would just say to all of Canada's American friends -- and there are so many -- seriously? Do you really believe that Canada, that your NATO allies, represent a national security threat to you?" Freeland asked on CNN's "State of the Union.".........

Rob Ford’s widow sues Doug Ford, alleging he has deprived her and her children of millions

The widow and children of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford are suing his brother Doug Ford, alleging he has deprived them of millions of dollars, including shares in the family business and a life insurance policy left behind to support his family.

In a $16.5-million lawsuit filed Friday in Superior Court, Renata Ford also alleges that former brother-in-law Doug Ford is a “negligent” business manager whose decisions have led to a steady decrease in the value of the Ford company, Deco Labels. Despite setting his sights on a political career, Doug has continued to receive “extravagant compensation,” even though Deco is losing money, Renata claims in her court filings.

Trump asks if Canada burnt down White House in call with PM

Canadians have reacted with dismay to reports US President Donald Trump questioned whether Canada burned down the White House during a call with the country's leader, Justin Trudeau.

British forces did set fire to the presidential residence during the War of 1812 with the US.

But Canada did not exist at the time - it was made up of British colonies.

"Didn't you guys burn down the White House?" Mr Trump reportedly asked in a call with Mr Trudeau over new tariffs.

It is not clear if the comment was intended as a joke, but CNN report that it followed an exchange in which Mr Trudeau asked how the US could justify the tariffs as a "national security" issue.

Justin Trudeau just announced that he warned Trump Canada's own tariffs against the U.S. will come into effect on July 1, says Canadians 'will not be pushed around.'

How do you get into a fight with Canada? I mean, seriously, it’s Canada.

They’re the most mild-mannered and polite people on the continent.

trump  is a bellicose, belligerent, ballistic individual who isn't happy until he's made decent and civilized people unhappy.

His own psychologically --disorientedly illogical mind doesn't know any better.

Big Baby In Red Tie will initially declare that his relations with the other G7 leaders are 10 out of 10. Hours later, though, after Justin Trudeau dares to disagree with him about a sunset clause in NAFTA and says that Canada will reluctantly impose tariffs on the U.S. in reaction to U.S. tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, Big Baby In Red Tie has thin skinned hissy fit, calls Trudeau "weak" and rescinds his decision to have the U.S. endorse the G7 statement.

Apparently standing up to Trump and saying that Canadians won't be pushed around makes Trudeau a "weak" leader in Big Baby's eyes.

Perhaps Canada should invade Greenland to get Big Baby's respect. Invading a helpless country, as Putin has done, seems to get a pass with him. He even wants that invading country to be let back into the G7 again.

Trump says he doesn't want the U.S. pushed around by its allies in trade, and even says he respects the ally leaders for standing up for their countries. But when Trudeau says that Canada won't be pushed around Trump goes ballistic.

What does that say about the "stable genius" American President?

On behalf of the majority of American voters who did not vote for Trump, I apologize for his boorish behavior. Most Americans value Canada as a friend and ally. We are looking forward to working with you after Trump leaves office, hopefully soon.

And I have to agree with this because I am one of those majority voters.

Howard, MANY THANKS!

Worth noting the obvious. Trump and his associates are going bonkers because Trudeau humiliated Trump simply by not giving in to his demands and his threats. That's the entirety of this story. Full stop.

Isn’t it possible that the fact that Trudeau is taller, handsomer, and cooler than Trump has something to do with our POTUS deciding that Canada is the enemy?
