Maybe you're being punished for fighting so hard against Windows 10. Well, I certainly wouldn't put that past MS, as I consider all of their Windows 10 crap to be Malware, Pupps, Virus's and Spyware. But this most recent round is exclusive to my allowing TCM to send me emails when someone wants to or has communicated with me. Hopefully by unchecking all of the email boxes in my TCM preferences I will no longer have to worry about spam coming from that direction. However, what **** me off is that it happened at all here. As I said in my last post (and as many others have already said here before) this kind of garbage can be severely limited, if not totally prevented, by a little pro action on the part of the TCM Board Masters. It is not enough for the Moderator/s to remove the spam after it has occurred (though I do applaud those efforts). This stuff should be prevented.... And when somebody like this is allowed access to my "private email account" because I provided it to TCM.... then it ceases to be amusing to me and I begin to take this whole spamming issue here on a personal level. You and I and hopefully all of us here are sharp enough to Not click on one of those sites, let alone fill-out a form from them... Although, perhaps some of us might just be gullible enough to do so if Spammers get sharp enough to disguise themselves as an "Inner Circle" promo. It's a "Brave, New World," we live in, and just as predatory and even more ruthless than the primitive one from which we have emerged! Anyway, nuff said. It did not come directly from the spammer. And you are correct, if you uncheck all the email options in your profile, you will no longer receive those. Perhaps if we want an explicit comment from you that is what we will need to include in posts of importance….? You know, in those technical support threads that are being ignored…. And thanks for the PM stating that you removed my previous long post here. That was a rare explanatory courtesy! You said this was done because: “we removed your post that contained the content of the spam PM. There's no point in putting that right back on the message boards again after we have removed the original post.” I can understand and accept part of that rationale..... However, you have often demonstrated that you have the power to “edit” existing posts by removing only the particular part/s that you find offensive, while leaving the rest of the post intact. You do this all the time. So while you could have just as easily “removed” only the replicated email portion of that post and even deleted the English translation of its contents… I do not understand why you deemed it necessary to remove the entire post, which also included additional information and valid examples and suggestions as to how to prevent this sort of garbage from occurring in the first place. Did you not deem any of that other information valid input for anyone reading this thread?…. IF you and/or the "Board Masters" here took some of the valid suggestions offered on these boards, in this thread, AND IN MY LAST DELETED POST to heart, you would be able to PREVENT these 'first time' Spammers from gaining access to our Inboxes to PM us in the first place! You would also be able to cut out most (if not all) of the type of spamming that we have been chronically afflicted with these last several months on these boards. Is it really easier to repetitively clean up these messes than to prevent them from occurring in the first place??? Instead, you (and "whatever" powers that be) have chosen to ignor our suggestions and exercise your "power" to delete entire posts and threads at your whimsical discretion. While I appreciate the uniqueness of the courtesy PM (a first) telling me that you deleted my post, there was NOTHING "private" in the content, that could not have been openly shared within any "public" post here. When a post just dissappears (like it never existed) after some people have already seen and commented to it, it is like a hole in the thread. (Likewise when whole threads mysteriously vanish)... For the sake of TRANSPARENCY it would be more favorable to just Leave the posters header and say this Post was deleted because.... (then insert whatever rationale). And your rationale for deleting the ENTIRE post instead of just the small part of it that actually contained the "offensive" spam message (that was allowed to be forwarded to me) does not hold water.... Is it your intent to "throw the baby out with the dirty bathwater" whenever you see anything that negatively affects your fragile sensitivity? This has happened before.... such as when posts have included what you (or someone) deemed an "offensive" reference link. I've seen you delete the entire post, regardless of the merit of the content, instead of just the link. There is no excuse for that kind of action. And regarding the petty censorship here... As others have posted we can use the British spelling for certain common expletives here and neither the auto censor nor yourself seem particularly offended. But if we insert our own asterisk symbols instead of actually using a particular word, then even those asterisks becomes "offensive" and are then covered by your own "less offensive" asterisks, and your edit comment: Edited by TCMModerator1, (date & time) Edited for Language How utterly senseless and ridiculous that is. As you can probably tell by my tone, I've reached a limit here... While I have had some enjoyment over these many years, reading many of the threads and posts here, and in communicating with fellow posters who share the pleasure of movies, and their various informed and often humorus opinions.... I have found of late that the "gold plating" of the TCM logo has worn off for me, revealing something inferior beneath. It's my own fault really. I put TCM on too high a pesdestal. I allowed myself to believe the hype, and then became disappointed when TCM didn't live up to it. TCM isn't the only channel that shows old movies... but it is still one of the few channels that shows them commercial free, and for the most part unedited.... and that is still saying a lot. But too much of the rest, is just a facade. I believe that you know to what I am referring. And if you don't, well it doesn't really matter, so long as I know. Oh and please don't take this personal... But when YOU are the ONLY person with whom we can even remotely communicate that actually represents TCM on these boards, then I'm afraid that you will sometimes bear the brunt of our frustration and disatisfaction at TCM's lackadaisical attitude when it comes to communicating back with us.
