Apparently the spammers are running out of ideas. When they run out of "first names" to call their threads

Anti spam software targets a poster's name....more than 3 posts in 5 min (or whatever time filter you set it for) would automatically be rejected as spam.

Not only am I dumbfounded TCM Message Board Moderators are not provided with simple anti-spam software, but even more dumbfounded anyone would load this board with unintelligible spam!

No one can read it. No one wants to.

What is the purpose?

(smart spammers start provocative threads to get people to open them, then try to sell you something)

Whenever someone posts a link to some article instead of actually typing a comment, it's exactly like spam. Wholly impersonal. Always less sensational as they thought.

I've learned to look at "last post" and recognise these "link-spammers".

One again in "THE WEE SMALL HOURS OF THE MORNING"-(my runner-up all-time favorite *Francis Albert number by the way)

These boards are packed with ASIAN SPAM & TRASH???

You'd think by now they would have enough safeguards to finally block this nonsense?

I writ  e on dozens of others & nobody has this going on though?

my thoughts too but why make an issue of asian spam with a network that should be showing many more movies than they choose to...like hot spell.

but for some reason continue to relentlessly stick with the same fixed unchanging coffer of films.

they ignore hot spell. they ignore asian spam. go figure.

slackers!

Maybe not enough suckers err, members, have joined the TCM Pox Lot so The Powers That Be are holding out resources of better filtering equipment until more folks fork out their $89 smackers?

     I dunno.

NipkowDisc:  If TCM ever does show HOT SPELL you might go in to shock and require medical attention!  Be careful what you wish for!    ;)

Boy ham, you REALLY didn't like that movie, did ya!

Personally, I thought it was a fairly well executed film born of a somewhat clever concept. But yes, I suppose it would have been better done in a comic mode than as it was, straight-faced.

And personally again, I did think the second Italian film presented the other night, "I Knew Her Well", was much better.

(...did you see that one?...don't wanna spoil it for you, but after that one I thought of another title for it.. "Peg Entwistle: Italian-style")

I would had accepted that if it was actually made around 1920!

Hey spence! Not ALL is lost here, dude!

Surprise, surprise. Within the last few minutes we NOW have one of those spammers out there who started a thread with the following topic title:

8G9ES7GF9A8W7FRTW9A8EDWA

Kind'a looks like your car's VIN number, doesn't it?!

(...and hey, AT LEAST it wasn't in that damn Asian script, RIGHT?!) ;)

If they limit the ability of the spammers to make threads, they would also limit our abilities (and yours too Spence).

So if they end up limiting our own abilities to make threads as we like to, The spammers will have won !

And we can't have that.

they clean it up the next day anyways. What's the big deal ??? :P
