jackpickford1
I know it! I had a friend suggest a bunch of William Haines movies, and she said the suggestions weren't showing up after she submitted them. Maybe they are backed-up with suggestions and froze the requests until they're caught up?
nsallieharding
Some idiot from NY was abusing it, he made about 50 requests for the same movie so I gave up even trying with mine. I think we are better off requesting movies here on the board.
Guest
They probably pay no attention anyway but I couldn't get any request to post....... sigh
colinasamarillas
Yeah I have never seen a movie that I requested anytime after.
kujokitty
I've had the same results. Just finished checking the schedual for the next couple of months. It is a shame that, with all the movies that have been produced over the years, all that is offered is the same ones over and over again. Even when they do a birthday tribute to an actor or actress they seem to pick the same ones. Lately I have found that I am watching less and less of TMC. jackpickford1
It is true that many channels repeat the same things over and over even though they have librairies full of material just waiting to be exposed to the fans.
Guest
Yup and my beef is that TCM shows something like Dawn at Socorro TWICE in one month while other films are never shown. I've tried to get info on the condition of films listed as being in the library. No dice. I assume if the film is listed it's in showable condition. I've requested The Silver Cord over and over, Chasing Rainbows, etc. Nothing. The library lists all kinds of goodies from Marion Davies, William Haines, John Gilbert, Mae Murray, Dorothy Mackaill, Ramon Novarro, etc that are never or rarely shown. I started buying whatever I can find.
jackpickford1
I would enjoy seeing "Chasing Rainbows." Isn't Bessie Love in it? I think they played it years ago.
Guest
Yes Bessie Love with Marie Dressler, Polly Moran and Jack Benny..... I've never seen it
scottman1932
TCM showed it about 10 years ago (or so). It is incomplete. The technicolor finale (where they sing "Happy Days Are Here Again") is lost. So I Imagine that is why they choose not to rune it any more. For what its worth, it really isn't a good movie. It suffers from many of the same problems that make many other 1929-1930 talkies virtually un-watchable. Don't get me wrong, I like Bessie Love, Marie Dressler, and Jack Benny, but this move is slow and not very funny. I taped it when TCM last showed it, and I haven't watched it since. nickdimeo
Actually it does work! I requested La Boheme a few months back and low and behold it's on the schedule for November. The Osmond fan abuses it on a regular occasion requesting Osmond movies so maybe TCM isn't paying much attention to it anymore.
lux0786
Scottman, Dressler has a hilarious drunk scene in Chasing Rainbows, which makes this movie worth revisiting from time to time.
classicsstarlets
WHY is it TCM just keeps showing the same movies over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, month after month after month after month after month and year after year after year??!!! I remember so well when TCM years ago would always show lots of their rare movies they own from RKO and Warners! I think its time that TCM started up a 2nd channel so that lots more of the movies they own could be shown that they do not ever air! I always am anxious for TCM to post the next month's listings in hopes that finally they will show movies I have requested and also movies that they have not shown in ages!! BUT its always the same movies that they have now shown well over a billion times!!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
Guest
I agree they play the same crap from the 40s and 50s over and over and ignore the early talkies. TCM iprogrammers forget WHY we subscribe: TO SEE OLD AND RARE MOVIES and not to see 50 crappy westerns or war movies in one month. DAWN AT SOCORRO twice in ONE month? jackpickford1
I'm tired of seeing stuff like overplayed Jaws and Close Encounters on TCM. You can go to K-mart or Wal-Mart and buy these films. They show up on lots of other channels too. Even my local library carries them. If anybody really likes these films they own them already. I wish TCM would air more rare silents and early talkies.
