Guest
Interesting film on TCM about a month ago which I taped and watched today. Richard Barthelmess is a Chinese who passes for White and is pursued by Constance Bennett until she learns the "truth." She goes beserk and whips him in public, then goes nuts..... Quite a potboiler BUT with an unusually restrained and sympathetic look at racism, culture, etc. Bennett and Barthelmess were good together, despite a few hammy lapses thanks to overrated director Frank Lloyd. Most of the supporting cast is downright awful, especially Mildred Van Dorn as the "Irish" secretary. But I liked Claude King, who played the playright and the always good Frank Albertson. Anyway, interesting film..... comments?
