Guest
Did a quick check and found these goodies I have never seen. I know TCM has shown a few of these but only a few. William Haines: Slave of Fashion (1925), Wine of Youth (1924), Little Journey (1927), A Man's Man (1929), The Fast Life (1932), Denial (1925), Slide Kelly Slide (1927), Memory Lane (1926), Get Rich Quick Wallingford (1931), Love Mary (1926), Spring Fever (1927), Mike (1926), Tower of Lies (1925), The Duke Steps Out (1929), Excess Baggage (1928), The Smart Set 91928), and Telling the World (1928). Marion Davies: The Fair Co-Ed (1927), Beverly of Graustark (1926), The Red Mill (1927), and Lights of Old Broadway (1025) John Gilbert: Desert Nights (1929), The Merry Widow (1925), A Man's Man (1929), Twelve Miles Out (1927), and The Cossacks (1028) Colleen Moore: So Big (1924) and Success at Any Price (1934) Mae Murray: Valencia (1926), High Stakes (1932), Altars of Desire (1926), The Masked Bride (1925), and The Merry Widow (1925) Marie Dressler: Chasing Rainbows (1930) and One Romantic Night (1930) Bebe Daniels: Love Comes Along (1930) and Alias French Gertie (1930) NOTE: not all of MGM films of Haines, Gilbert, and Davies are in the vault, so I assume they are lost. alix1929
I wonder of Colleen Moore's SO BIG is the original of the SO BIG Barbara Stanwyck did?
bollywood101
Yes, it is. FN/Warner made this as a feature 3 times.

scottman1932
Sad to say "So Big" (1924) is lost as is "Excess Bagage" (1928). I believe "The Duke Steps Out" (1929) is also lost. "Chasing Rainbows"(1930) is incomplete (Technicolo finale is lost), TCM hasn't shown it in several years.
Guest
Well that's certain;y interesting.... then why are these 3 films lists as being in the TCM Library? Partial films? Trailer? Cans of nitrate dust? I asked TCM why, when they were cataloging their thousands of films, they couldn't put a note on the older ones saying is was incomplete or had no score or whatever..... But now that you mention I remember seeing Excess Baggage on a list of lost films on some web site....... Hmmmmm

Cans of nitrate dust? If I remember correctly, they list everything that they own the rights to regardless of how much of the movie is still around. scottman1932
All things condiered, the MGM library has the best survival rate of silents. Of the 178 silent films they made from 1924-1929, 122 still exist of those 107 exist in a complete form. Which is better than Universal from 1912-1929 there were 950 releases only 180 survive, 145 are complete. I would like to see TCM start to show some of the First National silents they have 31 still survive complete, a good number of those are from 1928 and 1929, some may even still have sound discs surviving. jackpickford1
Would somebody know by any chance if Colleen Moore's "Flaming Youth" exists? I heard it exists, and then I heard it was only fragments, and then I heard again nothing exists.
coffeedan
As far as I know, A MAN'S MAN, TOWER OF LIES, EXCESS BAGGAGE, TELLING THE WORLD, and SO BIG are lost. MIKE and CHASING RAINBOWS are incomplete. And yes, an incomplete print of FLAMING YOUTH is held in the Library of Congress. By the way, if a film has a synopsis in its TCM library entry, it has been shown on TCM. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but not many. Guest
hey great info and feeback from everyone..... and I STILL WISH TCM would include a note in its film synopsis stating the condition and extent of the film....... or even if there are films that TCM is restoring.... It is so sad to think of all the films that are just plain GONE.....
leobertucelli
I just wish that programmer would go through what's there and show more recent films rather than like what is on tonight and so many other evenings of pure unwatchable and so old 'things' that really ought to be discarded. gagman66
Enough Already! Hey Leo, "GO SOAK YOUR HEAD!" The long overdue Harold Lloyd box set is getting absolutely rave reviews, virtually across the board fella! Just as I predicted, some time ago that it would! So you have to come in here, and make your little snide remarks, like some sick Jerk, now don't yah? The second I saw your name I knew it was some kind of a put-down! By the way, just in case I forget to tell you pal, and please try to comprehend what I'm saying now "GO SOAK YOUR HEAD!"

brackenhe
Now gagman--you really didn't think that "he" was going to let last night go by without comment. No--he's much rather see something that's muy macho instead of something you actually have to think about and pay attention to. It's hard to pay attention when your s-faced drunk. Melly
I would like to pass on a little wisdom that was given to us ladies of the OO (Onasi Order, video game character fan club) by the moderator Stanley Woo on the Bioware website. Don't feed the trolls. Because they are only saying what they're saying to get attention, by ignoring them they go away. That said, I would like to state that I watched every single Harold Lloyd movie that was on last night.
