jarhfive
feaito, A couple of days ago, I sent back to Netflix the first DVD of "Children of Paradise". The second disk should arrive tomorrow. I absolutely agree with your statement about the DVD transfer and worthiness of the movie. A five star classic. Rusty

les66
Some of my favorite foreign films include Wild Strawberries, The Seventh Seal, Smiles of a Summer Night, Through a Glass Darkly and Scenes from a Marriage. I guess you can tell I'm an Ingemar Bergman fan! I also really like Grand Illusion by Jean Renoir. It is an excellent anti-war film. One of my all time movies scenes is when Jean Gabin leaves the woman who has befriended him. The look on her face is so poignant.
metsfan
My favorite would have to be "Indochine", an excellent French film. Thankfully it has english subtitles but even if it didn't, the movie itself is worth watching.

Jaynrand
So many already on the list are favorites, but I will just add a couple: Les Uns et Les Autres - several generations of families from France, Russia, and the US...all are involved in music or dance and they come together in various ways during between and after the wars. My Brother Nihkil - a Bollywood, a young woman tells the story of how her brother's HIV positive status changed the lives of everyone around him, a recent film, but VERY moving with lovely performances and music La Aventurera - saw this on TCM and loved the performance of the leading lady who suffered more in one movie than Crawford did in six! The Bad Sleep Well - Tishiro Mifune is another fine performance.
