Melly
Perhaps someone here can help me. I taped Design for Living, with Miriam Hopkins, Gary Cooper and Fredric March ages ago when TCM did their documentary Complicated Women. I went to watch it the other day and saw all but the last 20 minutes of it and my recording stopped (I think the cable box must have gotten turned off, because it still was recording only it was recording static). What I want to know is this: how did it end?
feaito
As far as I recall it ended with the three of them together. This wonderful film is included in Universal's "Gary Cooper Collection", which is worth the price (it also includes "Peter Ibbetson", "General Died at Dawn", "Beau Geste" and "Lives of a Bengal Lancer"). path40a
And you are correct, feaito! However, if you want more detail, you can find it here: http://www.san.beck.org/MM/1933/DesignforLiving.html

alix1929
I love the ending where all three are together, and Gilda (Hopkins) says, "We have a gentleman's agreement--no sex!" and then grins, and lays down on her couch, and says, "But I'm no gentleman!" How is the world did that pass the censors? Huh?? Thank goodness it did!
TheSlumsOfSoftFocus
I love the ending. The double kiss at the end made a recent list I made of best film kisses. It wasn't a typical, big, romantic kiss, but it fit the story of its film better than most other kisses.
