Favorite Music in a Musical

Recommended Posts

The American in Paris ballet sequence when the stage is dark and the couple is dancing to that horn solo or trumpet or whatever it is. Sexy piece of music, that one.

I so love musicals that it's hard to choose any one. I enjoy musical revues, like 'Til the Clouds Roll By' . But I prefer the musical where the songs are related to the story, e.g. June is Bustin out All Over - 'Carousel.'

However, I love the sound of men's choirs, and chorus' and 'Paint Your Wagon' fills that preference to a "T". John Rait singing They Call the Wind Maria is always at the top of my list, as is Gordon MacRae's sililoquy Bill from 'Carousel'.
