spencerl964
To Lilly, it appears nobody else has replied as yet to what you asked A question though Have you ever checked out "AFI's 100yrs...100 Stars"-(1999 poll)? It of course was a combo of poluarity & talent though & on the male side of the tracks was-(voted down from 400 to 100): *Bogie Cary Grant *Jimy Stewart *Marlon Brando Fred Astaire *Henry Fonda *Gable *Cagney *Spencer Tracy & at 10th *Charles Chaplin AFI's all-time actresses: *Kate Hepburn *Bette Davis *Audrey Hepburn *Ingrid Bergman Garbo Marilyn Monroe *Liz Taylor Judy Garland Dietrich & 10th *Joan Crawford To check out entire list Go to www.afi.com-(superb site) My all-timers most on here were well aware of: *"The Great: Spencer Tracy"-(also my #1 Idol!) Steve McQueen-(my childhood Hero!) & *Marlon Brando Actresses: Natalie Wood-(obviously not the greatest, but a personal choice) Garbo *Kate Hepburn Michelle Pfeiffer & *Ingrid Bergman For the record, our own Mr. Osborne, once posted his-(early in 2001): Osbo's favs: *"The King: Gable" Cary Grant *Jmmy Stewart Harrison Ford & Fred Astaire & actresses: Barbara Stanwyck *Bette Davis *Ginger Rogers *Eva Marie Saint Kristen Scott-Thomas & If he looks in? movieman1957
Spencer Tracy. He was so authoritative. He had quite a range. I like quite a few actors but I think he was among the very best.
neilelmhr
AFI's list was missing several that deserved to be on the top 50. Most obvious, OLIVIA de HAVILLAND. I love Jack Matthew's (critic of the N.Y. Daily News) who wrote: "Ava Gardner, but not Olivia de Havilland! Are they nuts?" Olivia continues to be the most underrated of all the great actresses, despite her two Academy Awards. Neil
