Kayla
TCM sometimes plays these "commercials" that shows various clips of classic movies all into one. Well in one of these clips, (I think they only showed it in December because of the Christmas theme) a man runs down a sidewalk and yells out "Stella! Im on top of the world!" or something in these terms. Its in black and white and i know its a famous movie. I hope im not getting this movie confused with "Its a wonderful life" but im sure that someone out there knows its name. The movie looks really interesting. Maybe from the 40s. Well thank you so much for the help.
Guest
I'm not a fan but maybe it was a Street Car Named Desire with Marlon Brandon. I know there's a scene when he yells the name Stella but I think he's upset at the time very unhappy.
Kayla
Thanks so much for the help, but i dont think that was the movie. I just remembered more information: The man in this movie was very excited and happy. And i think he wore a hat and was about medium built. path40a
When you refer to the clips TCM shows between movies, I'm not sure if you're referring to the compilation that airs called "100 Years at the Movies". It's got a sequence with Jimmy Stewart running down the street from "It's a Wonderful Life" followed by James Cagney in "White Heat" saying "Made it Ma, top of the World". For more about this piece, see: http://www.classicfilmguide.com/index.php?s=100years
Kayla
I'm very familar to that clip. Maybe this movie was in there. But i remember hearing "Stella" and the man was running in the rain. I think i should wait till i see the clip again before i give out anymore information. Thanks for the help.
path40a
Well, the scene with Marlon Brando putting his hands on his head, he's wearing a torn t-shirt, in B&W and yelling "Hey, Stella!" is from A Streetcar Named Desire and isn't in the "100 Years" clip. I'm not sure what other movie it could be from besides that one;-)
FredCDobbs
Maybe you're getting two or three film clips mixed up together. As far as I recall, "Stella" comes from Streetcar, "top of the world" comes from White Heat, and running in the snow (not rain) comes from It's a Wonderful Life. Running in the rain comes from a lot of movies.
