Trump's Appeal as American as Andrew Jackson

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2015/11/24/trumps_appeal_as_american_as_andrew_jackson_128842.html

Build the Wall. Keep 'em out. Round 'em up. Ship 'em out. Bad ones, wipe 'em out.

We either have a country or we don't.

Trump has trampled on almost every political piety, and gotten away with it, even when he has been factually wrong or had to backtrack. “The Jacksonian hero dares to say what the people feel and defies the entrenched elites,” Mead writes. “The hero may make mistakes, but he will command the unswerving loyalty of Jacksonian America so long as his heart is perceived to be in the right place.”

Today's historians find Old Hickory polarizing in his assessment of native Americans.

Yeah... the "sacred cows" of society do change with the times. It used to be that you couldn't criticize religion or Mother Country. Now it is a no-no to criticize different races and orientations... but perhaps the "sacred cow" of "political correctness" needs overturned as well?

I don't know what to think of Trump. He seemed different on The Apprentice than now. I am trying hard to be good. He is unique... I'll give him that!

I watched Trump talking to Bill O'Reilly on his show yesterday where Bill challenged him on the totally bogus (incorrect) crime stats he tweeted.  Trump can't even act civil with Fox hosts.     What he said about Karl Rove was a hoot.  e.g. Trump said that Rove has spent 400 million backing a bunch of loser.   I'm still predicting he will offend enough GOP primary voters (e.g. by calling a sub-segment of these voters stupid etc..) that he will lose support BUT I have been saying this for months now so maybe he will win the GOP nomination.

If Trump does win the nomination will GOP establishment types like Rove back him with money and voters OR will they sit on the sidelines allowing Clinton to win????     I can see Rove saying:  Well I don't wish to spend millions on supporting Trump since that would be backing another loser!

Rove is another "sacred cow". (Funny how everybody on that network forgot all about his many email scandals when chewing out Madame Hillary. At least they finally shut up when another of their own, Christie, got into trouble.)

The feud between Trump and Fox News has been as much fun to watch as everything else, going back to Meghan Kelly. It will get interesting as time progresses. The only time Trump and a Fox commentator will act civil with each other is if they change the topic to Obama and Clinton.

I hope Trump wins the party. He represents so much that party stands for. I also hope he is represented by one of the hot air balloons on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. (OK... that is mean. I had better stop. Sorry, Donald.)

let's just call it what it is....

"It's way past time for this stuff. You can call Trump's statements lies or fabrications or even falsehoods if you insist on being delicate about it. But you can't call them questionable or controversial or salesmanlike or disputed or even faulty. The man is a serial, pathological liar. Isn't it about time for the journalistic community to work up the courage to report this with clear eyes?"

Trump is one funny fellow. Some memorable quotes over the year...

If you can’t get rich dealing with politicians, there’s something wrong with you.

All the women on The Apprentice flirted with me — consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.

You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of a**.

Sadly, because President Obama has done such a poor job as president, you won’t see another black president for generations.

It is so thoughtful for him to include Obama's "native country" (according to him) in this sermon...

African Americans are very lazy. The best they can do is gallivanting around ghettoes, lamenting how they are discriminated. These are the people America doesn’t need. They are the enemies of progress. Look at African countries like Kenya for instance, those people are stealing from their own government and go to invest the money in foreign countries. From the government to opposition, they only qualify to be used as a case study whenever bad examples are required. How do you trust even those who have ran away to hide here at the United States hiding behind education? I hear they abuse me in their blogs but I don't care because even the internet they are using is ours and we can decide to switch it off from this side.

Laziness is a trait in the blacks. ... Black guys counting my money! I hate it.

The only kind of people I want counting my money are little short guys that wear yamakas every day.

The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

The U.S. will invite El Chapo, the Mexican drug lord who just escaped prison, to become a U.S. citizen because our "leaders" can't say no!

When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending the best. They're not sending you, they're sending people that have lots of problems and they're bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. ... And some, I assume, are good people.

(On John McCain): He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured, OK, I hate to tell you.

... and the lines that will live in infamy...

I will build a great wall — and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me —and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.

I am a little worried about the entourage who follows him around though. The way a bunch of them clobbered a "black lives matter" protester and both Trump and his promoter laughing it off... a little too much like early '30s Germany for my tastes.

Both he and Sean Hannity claimed that Obama will allow 250,000 refugees in next year, but the official figure is still being reported as 10,000. I am assuming they know something we don't.

Amusingly, the US is allowing 10,000 and it is how big of a country? France is allowing three times this figure DESPITE the attacks and it is how big of a country? Maybe we should give the Statue of Liberty back to the French.

why should trump be bashful? he knows he will automatically get a raw deal from the msm simply by virtue of running as a republican. I also think there is plenty of truth in his remarks...truth that the democrats and liberals in general doan wanna admit. they really doan have to as it is quite evident in places like ferguson and baltimore. now they're worried about trouble in chicago because of the lacquin macdonald killing a year ago. trouble from whom...

Trump needs to be more strategic IF he really wants to win the GOP nomination and especially the general election.

e.g.  his tweeting of those bogus black\white crime stats.   The basis of his POV was on-target and something that needs to be mentioned;  a young black man is more at risk from other young black men then police officers.      But his bogus stats along with his over the top rhetoric only distract from the reality of the dangers of being a young black man in the USA.

"He has a real shot at this. He is the clear front-runner,” said Ron Bonjean, a consultant and former aide to GOP leaders on Capitol Hill".

“That is the wishful thinking of the establishment,” he said. “That is what they tell themselves so they can sleep at night. The truth is, Trump has one of the better ground operations in Iowa. Will he turn out every single person who shows up at his rallies? No. But if he turns out a fraction, he will roll over the field.”

Trump gets 27 percent of Republican voters today, with 17 percent for Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, 16 percent each for Carson and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and 5 percent for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. No other candidate tops 3 percent, with 8 percent undecided.

So apparently, Donald Trump’s popularity in the polls is because he delivers his platform in terms that even a fourth-grader can understand. Apparently, that’s a good thing. Mike Huckabee, who trails the Republican field, speaks at a level above tenth grade, and apparently, that’s a bad thing. From a weekend Barron’s article, “if you want to attract and retain readers, lower the grade level of your writing.” And there is an app for that at www.hemingwayapp.com.

Really poor example of using Huckabee as someone that speaks at a level above 10th grade.  The guy is a religious wackjob that gets most of his so called knowledge from one very unreliable source.
