TCM's goal

Hi!

I'm new to this forum, and I have been reading soon of the other threads, and it seems like ya'll aren't so optimistic about the future of TCM. Some of the other threads say that TCM is getting alittle out of focus, or something like that. This is my understanding of TCM's job.

1. To show classic movies, movies that are both famous and not, but that are classic.

There. Honestly, when I read the link given from one of the threads that said that as the times went by more movies would be added to the list of "classic", I wasn't too pleased. Sure, there are more newer movies out there, but let another tv show show those. Who else is going to show movies from the teens to the fifties/sixties? That should be TCM's goal. Who cares what the world around you is doing. I'm not sure if my point of view is correct, but I sure hope it is.

If I'm wrong, PLEASE let me know.

lzcutter,

Thank you for replying!

I am not against TCM showing more modern movies, just not on a regular basis. What I mean to say is that the number of modern movies shown should not increase, and that the main goal of TCM should be teens through fifties/sixties. The problem with showing more and more modern movies is that other channels show those, so why should TCM do so on a regular basis? Who else would show the teens through fifties/sixties? That is my point.

Cooper,

With the exception of February and the 31 days of Oscar, it doesn't feel like TCM is showing more and more modern movies and fewer of the others.

That last few nights have been a pre-code delight!
