Guest Busam, Joe
While Helen Kane was definitely the inspiration both visually and vocally for Betty, Helen was never the voice of the cartoon character. In fact Helen sued Fleischer studios for "stealing her stuff" in the early 30's. Despite the fact that her original designer (later Disney animator Grim Natwick) claimed to have used a Helen Kane sheet music cover to originally design the character, Helen lost the case. Betty's voice was, more often than not, done by Mae Questel. Mae is the best remembered Betty voice, but she was not alone. Several others such as Bonnie Poe supplied the voice on occasion.
