KilgoreTrout
Relieved to report I've seen less than 10% of Lawrence's worst lists. Can confirm every one I have seen is godawful. The Best Films of 1997 1. Good Will Hunting2. Jackie Brown3. Public Housing4. L.A. Confidential5. Boogie Nights6. In the Company of Men7. The Ice Storm8. The Promise9. Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control10. Live Flesh HM: 4 Little Girls, The Sweet Hereafter, Donnie Brasco, Princess Mononoke, The Game, Gattaca, Hands on a Hard Body, Contact, Hard Eight, Fireworks, Wag the Dog, Children of Heaven, Eve's Bayou, Clockwatchers, Rosewood, Waco: The Rules of Engagement, The Apostle WORST: 1.) Mortal Kombat: Annihilation 2.) Cutting Moments 3.) Double Team 4.) The Pest 5.) Gone Fishin 6.) BAPS 7.) Spice World 8.) Wishmaster 9.) Home Alone 3 10.) The Postman Because I was 10 at the time, visited the theaters as often as humanly possible, and the video store nearly every night, I may have seen more bad movies from 1997 than any other year and yep, I think all of those are actually worse than Batman & Robin.
CinemaInternational
Note. I am grateful that i haven't seen any film on Lawrence's worst lists, although I have seen some awkward, dodgy films from the 90s..... So 1997.... not a good year although the first few are very strong. 1. L.A. Confidential 2. Titanic 3. Boogie Nights 4. Deconstructing Harry 5. Life is Beautiful 6. The Ice Storm 7. Good Will Hunting (which I found much better the second time around) 8. The Sweet Hereafter 9.Paradise Road 10. The Wings of the Dove HMs: Anastasia, Mrs. Brown, The boxer, My Best friend's Wedding, As Good As It Gets, the Full Monty, Hercules, Affliction Metal of Courage Under Fire: Smilla's Sense of Snow, where a shallow, ludicrous script is upstaged by elegant acting, strong directing, and strong technicals. It's worth a look. Wag the Dog really depressed me overall, but its well acted. Face/Off and Tomorrow Never Dies were good action films. CinemaInternational
I actually liked parts of Wishmaster and The Postman! I haven't seen Cutting Moments or Home Alone 3. We used to play Spice World over the store TV monitor system to chase out customers. I have seen home Alone 3 too. It's rather odd. I liked it when I was young, but its not aged well in my eyes, though my father really likes it (!). Anyway, the booby traps in the film are even more over the top than the ones in #1 and #2. Macauley Culkin is AWOL and there's another kid. Part of the problem with the film is that the crooks in the film are cutting-edge industrial thieves yet as soon as they hit the house, they are are stupid as the small-timer crooks from the first two. it's rather atonal. Aside from one facial reaction Marion Seldes has, the fact that the kid's mother Havilland Morris (Caroline from Sixteen Candles) is very pretty, and that Scarlett Johansson has a small supporting role, its not worth the time if you didn't see it as a kid. And your tale of Spice World made me chuckle.

CinemaInternational
1998. I have seen a lot of films from this year, although I can barely remember some of them (which might be a blessing with some of them), but the top three films this year are spectacular.
