My Favorite Trivia

Recommended Posts

Since we're on the subject of lyrics to insturmental themes, which actor in Citizen Kane wrote the following... and what well-known piece of music does it go to?

Well, now, take down your fishin' pole and meet me at The Fishin' Hole,

We may not get a bite all day, but don't you rush away.

What a great place to rest your bones and mighty fine for skippin' stones,

You'll feel fresh as a lemonade, a-settin' in the shade.

Whether it's hot, whether it's cool, oh what a spot for whistlin' like a fool.

What a fine day to take a stroll and wander by The Fishin' Hole,

I can't think of a better way to pass the time o' day.

Wait, are you saying those are the lyrics to the The Andy Griffith Show; the opening song that is normally whistled? And that someone who was in Citizen Kane wrote these lyrics? Did he actually have a line? If not, I'll guess Nat "King" Cole.

Sounds like Mutiny on the Bounty (1962)

Don being Marlon Brando (Corleone in The Godfather)

Cardigan being Trevor Howard from Charge of the Light Brigade (1968)

Richard Haydn as William Brown, the botanist in charge of the breadfruit plants (voice of the caterpillar in Disney's Alice in Wonderland)

Close as I can get.

Ah, OK here goes:

Elton John in Pinball Wizard (the Wizard)

John Justin in Thief of Bagdad (Prince Achmed)

Justin Henry in Kramer vs Kramer (Billy)

Henry Morgan was a game show host (so maybe I'm wrong?)

Morgan Conway in Dick Tracy

Conway Twitty in Platinum High School (Billy Jack)

Well done, Tracey! You got 'em all. (Henry Morgan was a popular panelist on game shows like "I've Got a Secret," who had an acerbic wit and was featured in a few movies--including a totally serious role in "Murder Inc." with Peter Falk.)
