bansi4
I'll be watching the Academy Awards since it has been a tradition in our household for many years. I have all the shows taped since 1976 (30 years) and they are fun to watch from time to time, with appearances of many great stars. I also have a rare Oscarcast from 1955 when Grace Kelly and Marlon Brando won. Good stuff.
deeanddaisy666
FRED! I am finally getting around to my Warren William birthday tribute.....TCM DID do away with the 'look for the silver lining' song, didn't they?.....and am in WW heaven watching him as Perry Mason. As anyone who is aware of my perversion knows, I adore WW, as well as Fredric March and William Powell and Robert Fuller and many others. When men were men. Anyway, I'm more than pleasantly surprised to see that you like WW, since I want to go back in time and marry him. Sigh.........where was I? Oh yes...however, the present day me also appreciates the cutting sarcasm of Jon Stewart. He doesn't appeal to me like WW (did I say I want to marry him?) but his wit (or the wit of the writers who put the words in his mouth) is a treat to behold. I adore The Daily Show. I had to warn my mother in advance that........Jon.Stewart.is.sarcastic. I am looking forward to the AA. Heck, I am even going to try to watch the designer (what IS his name?) to see if he has the cojones to be outrageous on the red carpet. I am so glad not to see the Doctor 90210 duo that I will watch anyone else on that red carpet. Okay, I admit it, I'm a sucker for celebrity. But thanks, Fred, for the affirmation on my dream mate. P.S. I watch WW on VHS.
sweetbabykmd
I will be watching my DVD copy of The Bad Seed (1956) - love this movie. Does TCM ever show this?
BestEra
Yes, THE BAD SEED was shown on TCM sometime in the past year -- I'm not sure exactly when it was.
lzcutter
Have watched every Oscarcast since 1968 and so I will be watching again this year. Am hoping for an upset for "Best Picture" so that will keep my tuned in.
FredCDobbs
I watched ?The Howling Dog? last night. There is very good acting in that film, with Warren William and Mary Astor. I would like to see his entire Perry Mason series. I wish I had a voice like that.
FredCDobbs
I?ve watched every Academy Award show since 1863. I particularly liked Booth in ?Our American Cousin.? His leap to the stage was phenomenal.
deeanddaisy666
So did I, just. Also The Case of the Curious Bride, where in the list of credits is one Errol Flynn. Now, I'm not sure if it is THE Errol Flynn, but I didn't see anyone who looked like him. I'm now on the The Case of the Lucky Legs. WW is dreamy.......... jarhfive
FredCDobbs, I watched "Drums Along The Mohawk" last night. Recorded it off, well...I won't say where. Okay, I will...AMC (that HDD 'skip-thru' commercials thing is great). "Drums Along The Mohawk" co-starred Edna May Oliver. While watching "Drums Along The Mohawk", I thought of the couple of mystery movies Oliver starred. I think her character was named Hildegarde. I would watch those Hildegarde mysteries tonight--if I had them in my home video library. I hope TCM broadcasts the "Oliver as Hildegarde" movies in the near future. FredCDobbs
Hey, I just started ?The Case of the Lucky Legs? last night, and I will continue it tonight. You know that Perry Mason was somewhat unscrupulous, especially in ?The Howling Dog?. Right now I?m watching some of Noche de Estrellas Premios de Furia Musical which is just starting on Univision, Direct TV Channel 402. It?s a big music show from Mexico. Everyone needs to take a look at the Mexican music-stars? dresses and the men?s fancy leather coats.

MattHelm
"Hollywood Goes to War" doc on Fox News channel now. I caught it at 8 and 11. Some of this is going into my TCM programming week scheduling thread.
johnnyweekes70
Of course it's THE Errol Flynn. How could you miss him? He's got two scenes: one as a corpse and one in a flashback where he's sporting (if my memory on this detail is correct) a really nice pin-strip suit. If you've ever read any of Gardner's book, these films just don't cut the mustard. Too bad, even though I like them.
vallo13
Since it doesn't look like it will be releasted on DVD. I purchased (amazon)1943's Mr. Lucky with Cary Grant on VHS. So I watched that and also watched "Crash" 2005's Winner for best picture, very good film. vallo

FredCDobbs
?Also The Case of the Curious Bride, where in the list of credits is one Errol Flynn. Now, I'm not sure if it is THE Errol Flynn, but I didn't see anyone who looked like him.? I just ran through the film again at high speed. Errol Flynn plays Moxly, the girl?s first husband, the one that was supposed to have died 4 years earlier. We see him only in the flash-back scene where the girl hits him with a poker and leaves his apartment, then her second husband enters the apartment and fights with Moxly. There are a couple of close-ups of his face it is is clearly Errol Flynn, althought I didn?t notice it the first time I saw the movie.
traceyk65
It's a good one, though not as good as the third one, "Prisoner of Azkaban." There's some odd editing at the beginning and the director smacks you over the head with "meaning" a few times, but most enjoyable, none the less. deeanddaisy666
Thanks, Fred! I'll have to watch it again at some point and pay attention. Funny that he was not well known at that time, I thought he was already a star. Thanks, sandykaypax. I'm a sap for evocative songs.
