Victor
OK, so if i put the name of a Movie in the Search Engine and it comes up and says -- This movie is not currently Scheduled, does this mean that it IS or IS NOT in the TCM Library?? Just Wondering Thanks VIC
bollywood101
Sadly, it doesn't mean either -- only means that it's not scheduled to run on TCM in the next 3 or 4 months. There used to be a "Search the Library" function which really would tell ya which movies are in the library (I think the Programmer described it once as "all the movies to which we believe we have the rights"). However, it was done away with on the recent renovation. The new database is not an index to the TCM library but rather an effort to rival the IMDb in attempting to catalog every movie ever made. CineSage
You can first look up the film's producer or studio. If it's from Warner Bros., RKO, or MGM (before 1986), then you can be assured it's in the TCM library. TCM has deals with all the other major studios (except Disney, I believe), but it's for specific, limited packages of films, not their entire libraries. Finding out what's in each package may, in fact, be impossible for the typical Man (or Woman) in the Street.
