seattleaggie
At least 20 years ago I saw a movie that I would dearly love to see again. Of course, I do not recall the name. It was black and white, and was a British movie. It took place in a small town in Britain and the storyline was something like this: a small rural British town, 1950's ?, has a small symphony orchestra comprised of elderly, semi-talented, but devoted townsfolk. Their conductor has either passed away or retired and they are sent a new one, a much younger man from the city. They are resistant to his direction and do their best to stall his efforts - but do so by the idea of playing Beethoven's (?) music EXACTLY as written, which turns out to be void of any life. Eventually everyone understands the other side and all turns out well in the end. Any help???
