coolrob1955
I watched 'The Pagan' this morning and was impressed by a beautiful actress I was not previously aware of, Dorothy Janis. Its a shame she quit Hollywood after only five movies (a shame for us that is, not her). She's now 94 years old, was married to the same man for 50 years, and was a mother and grandmother. She chose real life instead of Hollywood and fame. God bless her. I can't find a picture of her anywhere. Bye

deeanddaisy666
Wow, one little Silent Film affected quite a few people this a.m.! Go to the Laughing Boy thread under General Discussions if you don't believe me! I was completely blown away with the beauty and modernity of Renee Adoree in The Pagan. I have never heard of her before, and only saw her for a minute or so. Her visage was as if lifted from the pages of Vogue 2006.........amazing, simply amazing. I looked her up online, but her pictures don't do her justice. If TCM reshows this film, be sure to catch her.
MikeDouglas
I taped "White Shadows in the South Seas" and "The Pagan" and was having fun watching these films, because they are transitional films in the movement from silent to talkie. And then there she was...DOROTHY JANIS...I felt like one of those old Warner's cartoon's where a cartoon characters eyes pop WAY out. I had NO idea she was so lovely. I agree with a previous post...its nice to see she left Hollywood behind, but sure which she had made a few more films.

Lynnkear
The Dorothy Janis story truly has a happy ending. I was afraid to look up her bio since most beautiful actresses of this era have such sad endings. Here's a site that provides more info about Dorothy as well as a photo: http://bigbandlibrary.com/wayneking.html
