butterscotchgreer
*Whew, that was a good dream!! You gotta love that shirtless overall look . I can remember feeling* he had the hat on from srgnt york too. heehee! he took it off just as i was standing. *his body heat as I was snuggled up against him in the Melody Jones dream .* sweet mama jama! you just love doing that! horrible! FrankGrimes
Yeah it's a real shame they couldn't show Grace Kelly that day. Instead they picked someone with actual acting ability. What were they thinking?! I now must depart before the authorities catch up with me. I'm innocent of some charges, but not all.

coopsgirl
*he had the hat on from srgnt york too.* That is too funny b/c I can?t picture him in overalls without also seeing him wearing that hat. We are just too much alike sometimes . I?m listening to my jazzy mix right now and one of my fave songs just came on that reminds me of our Melody Jones dream situation. It?s the one called *He may be your man but he comes to see me sometimes*. Here are the lyrics, look out b/c they are saucy baby . He may be your man but he comes to see me some time He may be your man but he comes to see me some time He comes so often, I'm beginnin' to think he's mine He's yours, he's mine, he's somebody else's too He's yours and he's mine and he's somebody else's too If you don't mind, I'll have him clean away from you Cause that man rocks me, he rocks me with a steady roll He rocks me, rocks me with a steady roll When he rocks me, Lord he satisfies my soul He's long and tall, just like a willow tree He's long and tall, just like a willow tree He's tall and cool, that man sends me If that's your man, tie him to your side If that's your man, you better tie him to your side If he flags my train, I'm sure gonna let him ride Now he don't drink or gamble, he don't run around When it comes to good lovin' he can really go to town That's the truth baby, I swear I wouldn't lie If I don?t love that man, gee I hope to die. coopsgirl
*oopsey! im sorry, i looked at your favorite hobo. heehee! just that word describing gary makes me laugh out loud!* I know! At least it?s better than ?tramp? though. Every time they call him that in the movie, I get so mad. Nobody calls my Gary a tramp, nobody!!! *im sorry i couldnt get away from that one, my eyes immidiately dres to the chest hair! someone needs to pull me away! im trying not to look, but one eye is opening.* You?re cracking me up! Can you imagine how embarrassed he would be to know how much we go crazy over his chest hair? Either that or he would just think we were insane and quickly high-tail it away from us. We?re pretty motivated though and I bet we could catch him .

CoopfanDan
Hi Angie, Not sure if you seen these but DVDBeaver now has comparisons between region 1 and 2 for Man of the West. The new R1 looks better to me for color, sharpness, brightness and contrast: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDReviews5/manofthewest.htm The Westerner is also up but he couldn't find his HBO copy to compare. It certainly looks better in all areas from the Asian import I have and the one I recorded off of tcm. http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDReviews37/the_westerner.htm Garden of Evil is also suppose to look much cleaner and sharper than all R2 version. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden1.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden2.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden3.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden4.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden5.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden6.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden7.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/Garden8.jpg Here's a comparison between the the R1 and R2 Garden of Evil Screen capture: R1 http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/R1Gaden.jpg R2 http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/Coopfan/R2Garden.jpg
coopsgirl
Thanks for posting that Dan! Both those films look much better. The color in *MotW* looks a lot better, it doesn't have the kinda washed out look anymore. Even without the comparison shots, you can tell *The Westerner* looks better. It looks sharper and with more contrast. I'm sure *Garden of Evil* will look great too and I'm watching that one first and it should be arriving tomorrow or Saturday . CoopfanDan
Yes all my movies shipped out today. I cancelled the one's I had on pre-order with Amazon and went with the buy two Fox/MGM movies and get one free at deepdiscount.com. I actually ordered doubles there of Man of the West, The Westerner and Garden of Evil and got the additional copy for free. Believe it or not I even ordered The Big Trail as I needed one additional movie at 14 dollars to order to go along with the two copies of Garden of Evil box set. So my two orders that shipped were: order 1 Garden of Evil box set 2 One copy Free The Big Trail order 2 Man of the West 2 (One copy Free) The Westerner 2 (One copy Free) Pork Chop Hill (Gregory Peck) Duel in the Sun (Gregory Peck) I bought a bunch of Gregory Peck over the last month. It's too bad that I missed the sale on these titles: Twelve O'clock High The Guns of the Navarone Purple Plain On the Beach Yellow Sky The Bravados The Big Country Roman Holiday To Kill a Mokingbird Gentleman's Agreement Cape Fear The Omen
MissGoddess
I can't even remember which titles I pre-ordered at deepdiscount and which I pre-ordered at Amazon. I just hope they're coming soon. For some reason, deepdiscount no longer sends me any kind of confirmation emails or shipping notices. *Cape Fear* was on sale recently? Darn. I've been thinking about getting that movie. It scares the beegees out of me but then it's such a good movie!! I just have to make sure I lock all the doors extra tight if I'm watching it alone. CoopfanDan
I haven't got around to seeing the original Cape Fear yet and all I've seen was the re-make when it came out in the 90's. About the only one's I've seen are his war pictures and a couple of his westerns along with Roman Holiday and To Kill a Mockingbird. There's two of Peck's western's coming out on dvd this summer in Only the Valiant and The Stalking Moon. I'll probably pick those up as well eventhough neither is on any western film critic's radar. I pretty much believe it is the actor or actress that makes the movie rather than the director so I have no problem blind buying these two as Gregory Peck is quickly joining the ranks of others I mentioned in a previous post that can carry a picture solely by his command your attention type performances. Although he is no where near the command your attention presense of Gary Cooper but who else is. In my view there is only one Gary Cooper and then many others who are good actors but not quite up to par with Gary Cooper on any level.
CoopfanDan
A reveiw with comparison shots for Garden of Evil and the Gunfighter was posted at dvdbeaver: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDReviews37/fox_western_classics.htm
MissGoddess
Thanks, Dan. I posted the caps from that comparison over in the Western Gallery. I saw that my own pre-orders already shipped, too, so hopefully I'll get them Monday or Tuesday.
