Thank you for the posting article, Angie,

It was mighty interesting. And you put great effort to typing it.

As for widescreen version of Hanging Tree I doubt that, because I have DVD version officially released in Europe, it is not transfer from VHS (I have VHS too). And it is not widescreen. There is the same difference in color in VHS and DVD version as in Man of the West. Fortunatly many Gary's videos came on DVD in Europe before they are released in States. There are also good versions of Desire and Blubeard Eight's Wife. As for Garden of Evil it was also released in Europe first and it's originally widescreen version. So when it came over in USA I have no idea of buying it again.

I've read before that Gary was dominated by his mother.

And she influenced his releationship with women.

Here is my favorite pic of Gary with his mother on the set of The Lives of Bengal Lancer. On the back of the photo it is written

CHAMPION MOVIE FAN - Miss Evelyn D Kelly of Santa Cruz, California, who has corresponded with Gary Cooper for the past eight years, meets her movie hero and his mother Mrs. George Cooper, for the first time on the set of Paramaunt's "Lives of A Bengal Lancer". The photo is from newspaper Examiner.

I had wondered who the other woman was in that pic. I'm glad you posted that. That's so cool that she got to meet him especially after being a fan since '27 if she had been writing to him for 8 years in '35. I'm impressed that she's not passed out on the floor - ha!

Now if I only I could get that time machine working, that could be me!!! :P

I live in European part of Russia, in St.Petersburg the most beautifull and wholly European Russian city. By the way Gary Cooper visited our city once with Maria and Rocky, but it was before I was born.

As for your question what makes me love him so much - I guess I can't explain it.

For a few years I became greatly interested in Classical Hollywood movies. I'm a fun of Errol Flynn and John Wayne too. But with Gary Cooper things turns differnt and deeper I guess. I must think a little about it more - if you want a story.

Here is another press photo

They are right merry

Gary Cooper, the film star and Sandra Shaw also of the movies, photographed in happy mood at the Huge sports Charity dinner in New York city December 14. Annauncment of their December 15 marriage had been made a short time before. Miss Shaw is Miss Veronica Balfe in real life, and a prominent New York society girl.

It was exactly my thought - how lucky she was and how I want to be on her place.

Here is another photo from the Bengal Lancer

It took all I had not to giggle out loud when I saw the one pic from Bengal Lancers!!! That is (for obvious reasons) my favorite scene in that movie!!! Theresa picks on me b/c I love pics of him with guns and here he is shirtless and holding a gun ? my day is now complete :x.

I remember the first time I saw that one. It was one that TCM showed in Dec ?06 when he was star of the month. I had just ?discovered? him the week before so I was still pretty new to his movies. I remember I was getting sleepy so I laid down on the couch during *Bengal Lancers*. Then they get to the scene where he?s got his shirt off and I shot straight up and was wide awake then ? ha! I hadn?t seen him shirtless yet and it was almost too much to handle ;). I was recording that one and as soon as it was over I went back and watched that scene again :P.

I like that one too of him and Rocky, it's very cute.

Here is the movie with which all this started. Why this one? I have some personal reasons why I fall so hard exactly for this one. It was released here. But from this point my love to gary cooper started and went so on and so on. Naturaly I have the most big number of stills from that one.

If any of you can get to Chicago on July 25th, look what you can see on the big screen:

Children of Divorce (1927) with Clara Bow, Gary Cooper

I live abot 8 hours from Chicago so I might be able to make it; but it wouldn't be nearly as amazing if I had one of my Cooper Troopers to go with me.

I can't believe it, a Gary movie we HAVEN'T seen.

They MUST make a DVD out of Children of Divorce. It NEEDS to be done!!

*We should apply at TCM as "Gary Cooper's special representatives." It'd be a great way to get to see all of his movies and do reports on all of his events.*

That would be my dream job :x. You should definitely try to go, that would be so awesome!!!

Unfortunatly TCM isn't here yet, but I may be it's Gary Cooper representative in advance LOL!

I will be mighty busy in upcoming days so I doubt that I will be able to scan post more pics for a few days. Because tomorrow is my son't 17th burthday and here it is common to held a party for relatives and friends at home. And I do the cooping O-o-h!

Tomorrow it would be a big races and tonight closing concert season of St.Petersburg Philharmonic - so we would be there.

And 2 next evenings I will spent at Mariinskii Concert Hall - they are not closing yet and they have pretty interesting programmes.

But in spite of posting I'll visit you in the breaks between events.

Tell your son we said happy birthday!! It sounds like you have a lot of fun things coming up. One of my friends (we've been friends around 11 years since college) is getting married this weekend so that will be nice. What's even better is I'm not a bridesmaid this time (I've been in 5 or 6 weddings already and that's enough :) ).

Does SONY control the rights to any unreleased Gary movies, or movies we'd like

to see restored and better presented? Because I noticed in the the "Upcoming DVD

Releases" thread that their representative has provided his email address for anyone

wishing to write in requests for future classic dvd releases. Here's the website

that was linked to in the announcement (Angie, I know you like Hammer films, so

you may find the interview of interest):
