CoopsGal
So when are you gonna venture over to that dangerous noir forum, Mrs. Goody-Goody Gumdrops? You better be careful. That's exactly why I'm taking my sweet old time about it, Mr. Apple-A-Day-Keeps-Peter-Lorre-Away. I bruise easily...and I just have to make sure I have my armor on tight so I'll be protected. They may be kind and gentle to begin with, but once they find out yer' against 'em...well, let's just say: Karloff's ice box wouldn't be the best place to spend Holloween. MissGoddess
This is for everyone, but especially *JOHN* because we've discussed 3:10 to Yuma---do check out this comparison of the two versions that was posted originally on the Criterion website, and which another poster kindly shared in the Westerns forum (it's the second to last post in the thread): http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?threadID=113105&tstart=

coopsgirl
Theresa loves his eyes, April is hypnotized by his hands and I go weak at the sight of chest hair. We're sure a crazy bunch . There is one scene in *Peter Ibbetson* (I don't want to give too much away since Frank hasn't seen that one yet) but Mary and Peter are in her room and they're laying on the floor and their hands are next to each other and then they hold hands. Wow!! His hand looks absolutely huge in that scene and her's is to tiny. I just love it :x
CoopsGal
Hi Theresa! I watch Coop's expressive eyes, too, but---and I've told this to Angie before---it's his hands I'm always getting mesmerized by. They're simply hypnotic to me, hee! His eyes were beautiful -- so alluring and magnetic (and we've gotten on this subject so many times, everyone knows how we feel about them ); but not many people realize how amazing his hands were! The way he wraps his fingers around the cigarrette, delicately. Amd when he pulls a woman in for a kiss -- the way he grabs her neck (not forcefully or harsh, mind you) it's oh-so romantic. I can't help but melt.. Phew! Okay, I'm done. lol, I'm sorry -- I get carried away sometimes. Now, even though I find his hands incredibly amazing...I am absolutely and utterly obsessed with men who are tall. It's the height, then the hands, then the eyes and lips and hair. lol, He had it all! He just towered over the women, yet he wasn't overwhelming; because he was sweet, gentle, and kind. He crouched a lot, too. He was teased so much as a child, it just broke my heart when I found that out
MissGoddess
What are you doing to me, Kim???!! Those pictures just about sent me under my desk and my PC into overload! He had the most beautiful, exciting hands of any actor I've ever seen.

Pally, I'm lying right under that table with ya' -- as unconscious as a tranqualized elephant. And it's--it's nice down here. Cozy and unthreatening. coopsgirl
Beautiful pics!!! Physically the man seems to have had no flaws. I love really tall guys too and it's just so cute how much taller he was than all his leading ladies. Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, and Patrica Neal were on the tall side for women but still much shorter than him. Ingrid said she loved that in movies with Gary she didn't have to take her shoes off during scenes with him as she was 5'9" and many of her other male co-stars were quite a bit shorter than Gary. It's so cute too in *Fighting Caravans* and *A Farewell to Arms* he has to bend way down to kiss Lili Damita and Helen Hayes. It just broke my heart too when I read about kids picking on Gary b/c of his height. I read in the Hector Arce book that between the age of 14 and 15 he shot up over a foot to around 6'. That means when he was 14 he was just under 5' tall. That's hard to picture - ha! Then by the time he was 16 he had grown more to be 6'3". I can imagine he definitely stood out in a crowd and when you're different (even if it's generally a good attribute like being tall) you get picked on. I was under 5' and right around there in jr. high and early high school. I was so glad when I finally got to 5'4" and was at least average and quit getting picked on. I hate too that the British kids picked on him b/c of his western accent and then when he moved back to Montana those kids picked on him about the British accent he picked up. I'm sure it didn't help either that his mom made him wear his fancy British school clothes on his first day back in Montana where everybody else was wearing overalls. I know what you mean too about how even though he was a big guy he had very gentle mannerisms. So many people have said that about him too that he was just such a gentle and calm person, it comes across in his mannerisms too.
butterscotchgreer
my goodness angie how could i forget the chest hair, i focus on both the chest hair and the eyes yup!, i love the chesy hair in Melody jones, speaking of which, thanks kim for postingthat kissing pic, its one of my favs. i have that very one on my notebook for government class and i told angie this, but anyway, the girl that always sits next to me in that class looked at it, and analyzed it for a few minutes and finally asked me who that was. i told her it was gary cooper, and she said," but it is in black and white". i just sighed and said, " i know". heehee! you should have seen the look on her face. it was so funny!!! heehee! she was looking at me like im weird or something. whatever gave her that idea? heehee! coopsgirl
*He had the most beautiful, exciting hands of any actor I've ever seen.* I don't think I've ever heard anybody describe someone's hands as exciting - ha! It fits him though.
MissGoddess
Oh, Theresa, that's so cute about the Melody Jones picture on your folder and that silly girl's reaction. If only she knew what she was missing!! I love that picture too---it's so erotic and I think it's funny how his scenes with Loretta are so sensual as anything in any of his other movies, and yet it's a gentle comedy spoof! But *Gary Cooper* was the producer so I picture him saying, we gotta add a love scene in here....hee!!!

butterscotchgreer
oh april, maybe we should all take a short vacation from here. heehee! i know i could just picture it, gary is saying, " okay! time for the love scene", he wipes his mouth with his beautiful arm and kisses her, but something isnt right. " okay i messed up, again loretta" im on the floor...literally!! heehee! i could just watch him wipe his mouth multiple times in a row, each time being just as anxious to see it as the previous take. sighs heavily! heehee! yeah she has some pretty funny facial expressions, it seems every time i pull out my notebook now, she makes a different face. i think she does it just b/c she knows ill laugh at it. coopsgirl
*I focus on both the chest hair and the eyes* Here's my system. If chest hair is showing, I focus on that b/c you don't get to see it as much as you do his eyes. If it's a close shot of his face then you go back and forth between the eyes and lips. If it's in color however, you just focus on the eyes. Also you can't neglect his beautiful head of hair. Oh my gosh I love the man's hairline, it came down to a little point in the middle of his forehead and I love it!!! Could he be any cuter?! I just wanna grab those adorable cheeks and pinch 'em! (The ones on his face, just in case any of you had your minds in the gutter - ha! Oh who I am kidding, I practically live in the gutter.)
coopsgirl
*They are exciting to me! And I can't print here all the reasons why!!!!* I'm pretty sure I can use my imagination and figure out what you mean It's weird b/c there are some scenes in his movies where like he'll run his hand up the woman's arm and I swear I can feel it and it makes my hair stand on end. Especially in *Doomsday* during the haystack make-out scene. Oh I'm melting in my cube right now!!!!
ken123
I am happy to say that men don't have such foolish crushes. You would never see me post things such as Miss G & Miss butterscotchgreer.I would NEVER say that any motion picture actress is hot.Especially not Maureen O' Hara, Joan Bennett, Linda Darnell, or that GREER what's her name ! SIGHING BIG TIME NOW heehee! sometimes i focus on his lips too, but oddly usually when i am watching him in color along with his eyes and chest ahri. HEY I CAN MULTITASK! heehee!
