Movie_Lady
I can not remember the name of this Joan Crawford moive. She plays a doctor's wife who happens to live on the wrong side of the tracks. The setting is a mining town that is dark and very polluted. There is a train that goes by her house. She doesn't love the doctor and want to leave this small town. She has affairs and ends up being dumped ( I think) by a guy. The movie ends with her walking towards the train tracks. She has her suitcase. The movei ends with her killing struck by the train. (Bad girls could never win in the 40's) Can anyone remember the name of this movie? Thank you.

paulasmithy
Are you sure it wasn't Bette Davis in a black fright wig, because that sure sounds like Beyond the Forest.
ULTIM8STAR
This a Bette Davis film titled BEYOND THE FOREST (1949). She co-starred with Joseph Cotten. This was in fact her final film for Warner Brothers. Hollywood legend has it that she couldn't wait to finish the film and end her long term contract with the studio. She apparently didn't see eye to eye with Jack Warner and didn't speak to him again until 1950 when she was asked to take the role of Margo Channing in ALL ABOUT EVE, which was originally set to star Claudette Colbert, who was unable to begin filming due to an injury on a previous film.
