They lived in a small, but very NICE house, behind her parent's house. The son was a blonde, chubby cheeked little boy. One day, he was playing with a lighter (I think) and was severely burned. She has a baby out of wedlock and her parents try to fool people by raising it as their own. I am 100% sure this is the movie you are looking for.
