Famous lines from movies

Recommended Posts

Not Animal Crackers. I haven't seen this on TCM for a while... in fact, I'm not totally positive it has been on TCM. I consider it a classic - as defined by the die-hards here - having been made prior to 1960, in black and white and starring well-known actors in leading and character roles.

Try again.

Nope, 'fraid not. You're approaching the right time period for the film. Some of the action happens at college, but the majority of the film is set in a much different location.

Another clue? When I was a kid, I always enjoyed watching this movie in late March or early April.

Exactly right, aftermath! The line was spoken by Alan Hale, Jr. to Ray Milland when he was testing the effects of the accidental concoction that was on the baseball and it's aversion to wood.

It always marked the beginning of spring and baseball season for me (and was a very enjoyable movie in its own right.)

The torch passes to you.

Right you are!

In SIX DAYS SEVEN NIGHTS (1998), Anne Heche is bragging about the women's magazine she works for, and shows Harrison Ford the latest issue. The cover includes several "hints" for a woman to get a man excited... such as "How to Light His Fire" and other such garbage.

Ford, a gruff airplane pilot, looks at the trendy magazine and throws it back. Then he says that line:

"You know how a woman gets a man excited? She shows up. That's it. We're guys, we're easy."

Nice job, Winnipeg. You're up now.

That's got to be a new record, right?

Winnipeg posted the question at 8:43 PDT, and aftermath came up with the (I think) correct answer at 8:55 PDT.

That's 12 minutes. Meanwhile, over at the "Do You Know Me?" thread, Judith is playing hardball, offering up questions that will take years to answer.

That's trivia for you.

That other one was a hard nut to crack! ( A time-filler yet). This involves two people. The first one said "In this world there are watchers and doer's. your a watcher and I'm a doer". The second person reply's "Well it's harder for me to watch what your doing when your doing it!" What two people said it and in what movie? ( A Double Header!)
