JackBurley
I could swear that director George Sidney says (on the audio commentary of The Harvey Girls) that Virgina O'Brien later became the sheriff of a town called Wildwood, California. I haven't been able to find any information on this. Anyone out there know anything about this? Mr. Mongo, perchance?
bansi4
Jack, just to let you know that I checked with various sources, including "Whatever Became of...?" and an in-depth interview in "Classic Images", and there is no mention of Virginia O'Brien ever becoming a sheriff of a town. It's possible she was made sheriff for a day, since she traveled all over the country doing her comedy singing routines, and was well loved. JackBurley
Thank you Mr. Mongo! How odd. I wonder if that's what George Sidney was referring to -- an honorary position. I suppose that would make sense. If anyone else has any clues to this mystery, I hope they'll post them...
ayresorchids
Here's a nice bio, but no mention of sheriffdom there, either: http://www.classicimages.com/1999/january99/virginiaobrien.html
