3D film festival coming to Egyptian Theater

Since people liked knowing in advance about the Glenn Ford salute at the Egyptian, I thought I would post this about this year's upcoming 3D film festival.

There's a great list of films, including the 3D Kiss Me Kate and Dial M for Murder.

Here's a link to general info:

And for a look at the list with ticket ordering info, try this one:

One thing to know is that these films sell out in advance. I tried getting into one showing last year and after waiting over an hour in a standby line with many other people, we were told that there were no empty seats.

Yeah, but you've got Broadway!!! Nowadays, it is getting that so many tours of Broadway shows are cut off from playing L.A. because Vegas buys the rights to show them. It happened with Avenue Q and I think it is happening with Spamalot. And the shows in Vegas are cut down to 1 1/2 hrs. To see anything good, a person has to fly to NYC and stay at hotels that cost at least $200-$300 a night..

hey, filmlover--last August my hubby and I went to NYC and got a great rate on a hotel right off of Times Square for about $120 a night. If you check the big discount travel websites, you can actually find some great deals. We had purchased tickets months in advance to see Spamalot, however, there is a GREAT service right on Times Square called TKTS at which you can get same day tickets at discount prices, pending availability. We saw Alan Alda, Jeffrey Tambor, and Liev Schreiber in Glengarry Glen Ross for only half price! And we also saw John Lithgow in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Our hotel was right across the street from the stage door for the theatre where Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was playing--it was really convenient since we were there primarily to see some theatre.

The biggest expense for you would be plane fare, coming from the west coast, I would think.

Hi, Sandy,

Thanks, I know about TKTS. I used to frequent the one in Times Square and also the one they had in the World Trade Center. I've been to NYC several times, but as you know in the case of a hot show you have to get your tickets ahead of time before you get out there. One hotel I have stayed at that was reasonable was the Milford Plaza, but in June when I was planning to go the rates were up. Where did you stay? (Actually, this year I may not be able to head out there due to having to save money for awhile, but maybe later in the year.)

filmlover, for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the hotel we stayed at...It was an old building that had been recently renovated in the past few years...the lobby was very modern...I think that the designer was Philippe Starck? Anyone know what hotel I'm talking about? I believe it was on 46th Street...it's right next to the Church of Scientology.

YES! That is the one, Jack--the Paramount! Wow, I guess if it had been called the MGM or the Warner Brothers I would've remembered it better! LOL!

The rooms were very small, but comfortable and the staff was wonderful. I also enjoyed the Dean and Deluca in the lobby and the proximity to all the theatres.
