Josephine & Joe

Howdy folks,

I recently purchased a music sheet for a song entitled "Love For A Day" written by Joe Jordan & Porter Grainger and published by Irving Berlin's company in 1929. It indicates that it was "featured in the motion picture Siren Of The Tropics" with Josephine Baker. I'm aware that the entire film was recently discovered and released on DVD through Kino Video, but does anyone have any info about how or why this piece would have been composed and published in conjunction with a silent film from 1928? I do know that the DVD features a performance of another piece "Oh, Papitou", supposedly composed for the film, but have not seen it yet. Anyone have any info on this? T.J.
