Who would you rather meet?

Recommended Posts

Joel McCrea because beyond westerns he was also charming in films like The More the Merrier and Sullivan's Travels.  He was equally good in dramas like Foreign Correspondent and Most Dangerous Game.

It seems like everybody said Edward G Robinson was the sweetest guy. ( There were few opinions of Paul Muni as an individual because he didn't socialize in Hollywood.)

This next one would be too hard for me to decide because I love and admire both of them so much.

Who's the greatest horror star--

Boris Karloff or Bela Lugosi?

I always liked Karloff more, he played a wider variety of horror characters.  I also think he was the better actor.

(I don't care much for westerns oh, but the few I like were by Ford.)

One of my favorite genres is screwball comedy and Howard Hawks is one of the best with " Bringing Up Baby " and "His Girl Friday".

The head of MGM, Louis B Mayer or the head of Warner Brothers, Jack L Warner?

I would probably say Jack L Warner, only to test his knowledge on his studio's own Looney Tunes cartoons.  Believe it or not, it was said that Warner mistakenly thought that Mickey Mouse was one of his studio's own cartoon characters!  This is no joke.  (Probably because there would ALWAYS be a Mickey-like mouse popping up from time to time in the cartoons from the early 1930s)

Oohhh, good one! The best friends! Hmm, I love both of these actors, but I would pick Jimmy Stewart (he wins, but it's soo close) as who I would rather meet.

I like Vera-Ellen (she was a great dancer, yet just as underrated as Eleanor Powell), but without question, I would pick Cyd Charisse in a heartbeat.  She's always been one of my all time favorite women of MGM musicals.  I find her to be one of the most attractive women on film, plus I like how she's SO classy, yet can come off as VERY, VERY sexy and seductive.

The Marx Brothers.  Hilarious, witty, smart, quick, subversive.   The Three Stooges is the exact opposite.  Those two pictures you posted says it all.

Both of those men are not only best known for their comedic acting, but also for their charitable work.  Danny Kaye has done work for UNICEF, and Jerry Lewis for years hosted the 24 hour M.D.A Telethon over Labor Day weekend.  Still, between those two, I would probably have to go with Danny Kaye.

I'd say Lillian Gish.   She seems more sociable with a lot more to talk about than Garbo.  I don't think Garbo has ever met with her fans, nor has she ever given any interviews.

Cary Grant. He is the definition of Hollywood, for sure.

Can I pick both?  They had great chemistry in The Man Who Would Be King.   I think I'd pick Michael Caine.  I've seen him in interviews and he's very engaging and funny.  I love the TCM voiceover he did about Cary Grant.

I'm a bigger fan of Steve McQueen, but I heard he was kind of a butthole at times. I read James Garner's autobiography and he said so himself. They were both into racing. I have to pick James Garner.

Glenn Ford, because I like how he can act well in both dramas and comedies alike.

Arlene Dahl is the mother of Lorenzo Lamas from "Falcon Crest".

And he might be around when I would meet her so that sounds like a good idea to me. LOL

Jane Wyman - she's such a great actress (I prefer her in dramas as opposed to comedies) and I always thought she looked cute, especially as "Belinda".

Please forgive me for voting against the tap dancer, and a good tap dancer too-- but there's something about Bogart that is so irresistible and thrilling that he's hard to resist no matter what role he's in.

Just to get this game going along, since it's been over a month since anyone has participated in it, I want to suggest some other names so others can continue playing.  I really don't mean to sound impatient, and I apologize if I had, but I just wish to get this game going along so others can continue participating.  Anyone can respond to the previous suggestion of stars, as well.

Hmm.. tough one.  I like both actors but I suspect Barry Fitzgerald might be fun to have a beer with and "talk a little treason" as his character in The Quiet Man put it.

I have always admired Shirley MacLaine's ability to be a credible dancer as well as a Academy Award winning actress.

But no contest here, I love Warren.

And I'm sure, so does she!

Jerry Lewis - only because he could at least talk to you and make sense, unlike Dino who could come off not making much coherent sense during an interview.  Just take a look at him on "The Tonight Show".  He would always come on the show intoxicated, although that MAY have just been an act.  Who knows?  I'd still like to ask him about his opinions on those Matt Helm pictures he did.
