Race & Hollywood: Black Images In Film . . .

Recommended Posts

. . . was a well-executed programming event, last month. TCM's compilation of films provided a good examination of the concepts, stereotypes and imagery of African-Americans in Hollywood cinema in a nicely chronological format.

However, as an aside, I was mightily annoyed that I missed a good chunk of The Birth of a Nation thanks to the second-feed snafu that occured.

Mr. Bogle's side of the hosting's were some of the most informative and interesting intro's and outro's to date. Indeed, he would make an excellent, future TCM Host. Perhaps, he could be the next co-host of The Essentials after Ms Haskell's run is over. He is eloquent and has a good camera presence. I'm looking forward to reading his book sometime soon.

And the interview bits and the event's montage film , which peppered the month's programming were very good, too.

Anyway, thanks for that programming event, TCM Programmer; it was first-rate (no surprise).
