Good Morning,

I was PM'ed by a fellow poster that Mongo and this "Happy Birthday" thread were attacked by some cur as 'useless and unnecessary' to the boards.

Oh please, this is so very wrong and untrue.

Mongo is very necessary as an important educator and informant on all things movie related.

And, this thread is the first of the day for many of us. It is educational and informative - births, deaths, movies & personal data.

Also personally, it inspires many reveries - a name triggers memories in my cobwebby brain for me of some I've known and incidences that have happened, like my 1955 "date" with Verna Felton.

The "Birthday Thread" can bring a smile or a tear. Therefore, it's important, because it's human!!!!!

Thanks Mongo,

So True Larry, When Mongo mentioned he may retire next year. I thought who could do such a good, professional job doing the Birthday Thread. Well no one! Mr. Mongo is irreplaceable. The thoughts and context he puts in daily, are without a doubt the best thread on the boards...Keep it going Mr. Mongo

It's the first thread of the morning for me, too. It's fun and interesting, and who cares what Mongo uses as sources, as long as the information is there!

And as Larry says, many of these names trigger memories for us of stars who shouldn't be forgotten. I'd hate to see this particular thread leave us.

Thanks, Mongo.

Regards, Judith

I concur. This thread is a daily must for me. If someone doesn't want to read it... well, nobody is twisting his/her mouse, are they?

Just remember, mongo, there are many, many more posters that appreciate your efforts than the few and far between who only come here to denigrate those who make the boards special.

Ah, Michael Landon -- my first real pre-teen "star" crush. He was so dreamy in his green jacket on Bonanza. Bonanza was the first TV show I ever saw in color, and when I found out that Little Joe's jacket was green, I wouldn't have any other color for my own jackets for months to come.

Again, I thank you Mongo for this thread. I don't know how anyone can read these boards without coming to this thread every day.

It's my pleasure, Anne. I did reply to your question (forgot which thread we were on at the time).

In any event, boardmember Wordmaster showed interest in taking over the Happy Birthday thread, but has since vanished.

I did have intentions of parting from the thread on January 1st. 2007. I'v been doing it for 4 years or more.

Under the circumstances, I may extend it, for now.
