torresongs
Why are none of the TCM Theater Events ever shown in Portland, OR? We have a beautiful classic theater here. Who can I talk to about this?
LawrenceA
Portland is much too dangerous and violent. Too many cannibalistic blood cults.

After all, there was the guy that ate that guy's face.
Movie Collector OH
Why are none of the TCM Theater Events ever shown in Portland, OR? We have a beautiful classic theater here. Who can I talk to about this? Depending on facilities, the big theater might be the problem. I see their Fathom Events ads in my generic suburban-ghetto megaplex of 16 little shoebox theaters. They are all set to go on those little digital projectors, with an introduction by Ben M to boot. Your theater sounds more like a "film festival" type of experience, with real 35mm reels of film.

I'm feeling the pain too. Before celluloid films became a scarcity, my local theater used to get quite a few classic films. Now they've upgraded to digital and, apparently, haven't the funds to obtain these films in the digital format they've just spent their money upgrading for. But Pat Benatar just did a live gig there. I'm at a loss for words with this one..

JakeHolman
Live in a small Southern state and To Kill a Mockingbird will be shown in our local theatre tomorrow for those interested. I have no interest in this one. Waiting for others...

I am genuinely surprised that Portland doesn't have these showings, as it seems like the right market for them.
speedracer5
As someone who lives in the Portland Metro area, I can say that I do see these Fathom events. Granted, like MovieCollector says, they're in the chain theaters. I don't see them airing in the Hollywood Theater or the Clinton Theater or any of the other small theaters in Portland. I am not sure why they don't air in the smaller theaters, perhaps it is easier for Fathom events to organize by having them in the chain theaters. I always go to the Cinemark Century 16 in Beaverton to see these Fathom events. As for Portland, I can say that the Hollywood Theater and the NW Film Center downtown seems to air classic films fairly regularly. Granted, they aren't the Fathom events, but they do air classic films. I believe that the NW Film Center is showing Laura next Friday.
