ACDCROCKS1980
Yes horror classics are Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, etc. But what about the horror classics like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc. The second list may not be 4 star films but how many people would define Nightmare on Elm Street or Night of the Living Dead a classic? Does TCM ever show horror movies like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street? You think they would show Night of the Living Dead because its in the PUBLIC DOMAIN but I have checked the schedule on halloween for the last year or two and didnt really notice any more mordern horror classics. Why doesn't TCM ever show these?
patful
You can see most of those movies on just about any other channel. AMC shows Halloween 4 and 5 countless times throughout the year, with marathons around the holidays. Nice name, ACDCROCKS1980, as long as you're talking about the Bon Scott years! :-)
markfp2
Most of the more recent horror films you mentioned are leased to other networks so, even if they wanted to, TCM can't run them. As for "Night of the Living Dead", because it's in public domain, it gets run on several different channels around Halloween. With a few exceptions, TCM tries to show films that are either exclusive to them or at least not currently available on other channels.
DeMilleBuff32
Because most horror "classics" aren't very good. As much as I enjoy a few, I would rather TCM stick to showing older vintage thrillers. However, the only modern horrors I wouldn't mind them showing late night are the ORIGINAL Nightmare on Elm treet (1984), Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) and maybe the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). Those would be nice to see on a special occasion, NOT regurlarly. I would take Karloff, Lugosi and Chaney over those anyday.
JonParker
I love all those movies, but what I'd really rather see is more obscure stuff that I don't already have on DVD. I'm really looking forward to Rob Zombie's show.
DeMilleBuff32
Oops! I meant to say most MODERN horror "classics" aren't very good!
