songbird2
Sometimes it might be called downtime, or the golden moment, or the blue hour,(l'heure bleue in French), which refers to the often magical hour experienced between the hours of daylight and darkness, but might refer any ideal time of day. L'heure bleue is sometimes recalled by the quality of the light at this time of day and because in the summer this is often when the smell of the flowers is at their strongest. In a sense, it's an indefinable something that make certain times of day a different, richer experience--as different as night and day. Whatever it is, it struck me recently that there are certain films that are probably ideal viewing at night, but seem odd during the day. On the other hand, some movies are better in the early morning. Do you have a favorite time of day for a particular kind of movie experience? CharlieT
Whenever I go to the drive-in, I like to go after dark. B-) It's easier to see the movie that way. Seriously, horror films are always better after midnight. :0 CharlieT
normandie7
I love watching "The Night of the Hunter" at dusk. It suits the mood of the movie.
BallofFire
I think it is best to watch most comedies/musicals from the 1950's or 60's during the day - they just seem odd at night. Singing in the Rain and Guys and Dolls, however, are better at night. Earlier comedies/musicals can go either way. Mystery and Suspense seem best at night. On the Town and most Adventures are great for any time of day. Fantasy and Drama are best at night.
JackBurley
I have yet to find any time of day when I wouldn't enjoy sitting in front of a silver screen to watch the light reflect magical images born from the camera.
FredCDobbs
I always get cold when I watch Dr. Zhivago. I like to watch it at night in Winter.
JackBurley
"I always get cold when I watch Dr. Zhivago. I like to watch it at night in Winter." If you watched in summer, you could save on your air conditioning bill...
SusannO
There is not one classic movie that is not perfect curled up at night, my daughter and husband asleep, all the lights are out and a cool pillow to lie on. This is my perfect world..

FredCDobbs
I lived in a big old Victorian house all by myself for about 10 years. One night I tried watching Dracula at night with all the lights in the house turned out and only one candle in my room. Dang! It scared the heck out of me. CineSage_jr
I like taking walks on the Universal Studios back lot just after sundown. In the fading, gray light, the deserted streets and fa?ades are genuinely spooky (especially the Old European Street built for 1931s FRANKENSTEIN). Of course, one does have to keep an eye peeled for the odd skunk or rattlesnake. That's really scary.
sandykaypax
I like to watch darker themed films during the day, so I don't get depressed right before bedtime! Sandy K
