chinaseas
It would be great to see a box set for her. Set one could include Baby Face , Ladies they Talk About , etc. set two could have Remember The Night , Ball Of Fire , and My Reputation , etc.
ken123
Any Barbara Stanwyck collection should include "Double Indemnity","The Lady Eve",and the "Furies" which was John Huston's last film!
lzcutter
Ahem, Ken, ahhh, John Huston's last film was "The Dead" in the 1980s. Walter Huston's last film was "The Furies". Placing John's death thirty years too early, think of all the good films (Night of the Iguana, etc), good performances (Chinatown springs to mind instantly) and great stories (his autobiography was a hoot) we would have missed. LuckyDan
But would we have been spared "Myra Breckenridge?" Re: Miss Barbara Stanwyck, I'd pay good money to see more of her pre "Meet John Doe" films. Message was edited by: LuckyDan
kujokitty
Must not forget Lady of Burlesque and the Gaylord Sisters.
feaito
Ken, There's a great Barbara Stanwyck Set (PAL-Zone 2) issued in the UK, from the Screen Goddesses Collection, which includes 6 of her films: "The Miracle Woman", "The Bitter Tea of General Yen", "Golden Boy", "The Lady Eve", "Double Indemnity" and "All I Desire". It's beautifully packaged and the quality of the prints is good. I bought it, although I already had "The Lady Eve" Criterion Edition DVD and I loved the Set. You can check it here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000B7VZN8/026-2955066-3331615?v=glance&n=283926
BallofFire
I think there should be two sets one with her famous later works and one with her more obscure earlier films-especially The Mad Miss Manton. Or maybe a drama set and a comedy set. She was in so many marvellous movies!
ken123
Sometimes my typewriting gets ahead of my thoughts!! next time you see "The Furies", look for the "odd" between daughter Stanwyck, and father WALTER HUSTON!!
