Lucille Ball went by the name Diane Belmont early in her career. And in Lee Tannen's book "I Loved Lucy," he says she continued to use that name when she would check into a hotel and didn't want people to know she was staying there.

Carole Lombard. I knew who she was, of course, and had seen the more well-known titles on TCM. But recently I started watching her earlier Paramount precodes, and it was a treat.

Joan Crawford

According to Cliff Robertson, when they worked on AUTUMN LEAVES, director Robert Aldrich would ask Crawford to add a tear or two, and she'd ask which eye he wanted the tear to fall from. She had perfect control, which Robertson found amazing.
