There is only one Presidential candidate, in my mind, who represents
a) true progressive values
b) has enough of a party-wide groundswell to beat Trump and
c) can syphon republican votes by virtue of being an *actual* populist.

Bernie Sanders is my choice for 2020..........

We have a real chance at change in 2020, a real chance!
So you can either protest about not liking a gruff old dudes attitude
and go side with investment bankers and lobbyists and war criminals to spite him,

or you can hopefully, willingly, vote for the future. ..........

& for the record, i'm voting for whomever is the nominee. ....

To be precise, Iowa is not a voting state, but one that has TWO caucuses as I understand it.

Biden is leading in S.C. which votes Feb. 29.  Also, I don't see Sanders or anyone else clearly ahead in the above numbers.  Buttigieg and Biden both beat him in NH, an actual voting state.

You're incorrect to make this assumption.

misogyny

[ mi-soj-uh-nee, mahy- ]SHOW IPA

noun

hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women, or prejudice against women.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please give me a couple examples how this describes me or Bernie Sanders. About Loving Sanders, I'm more then willing to show I disagree with his policies if they show he's manipulating the truth or the facts for his gain.

First, I had second thoughts about my post and deleted it but obviously not quick enough.  So apologies there.

I wasn't assuming Bernie was a misogynist.  I don't think he is. I like Sanders but my query was you seem to like Sanders but not Warren and I couldn't figure that one out.

If you have to pick one candidate I can see you picking a favorite.   But you seem to dislike Warren and to me her "message" is not that much different than that of Sanders.  So it must be something else.  I was speculating that you might not like a female candidate.

On another matter I notice that like your fave Jimmy Dore you love Sanders but unlike him favour criticizing democrats before you would ever criticize Donald Trump.  Jimmy Dore might as well declare himself a right wing propagandist  because that is who he is helping to elect.

I wish I could put hands on it but there was a book describing the conservative right wing strategy of employing faux left wing talking points to then attack the democrats as being inherently dishonest.  The (faux) left wing doesn't attack the right wing in this scenario.   The (faux) left wing attacks and eats its own.

That's exactly what Jimmy Dore does and those who really do embrace democratic socialism should beware.

Now I understand when one is campaigning for election it is important to distinguish yourself from your opponent.  And a dose of self criticism is healthy.  That's not what I am talking about here.  When push comes to shove you see Sanders, Warren and even AOC going after the right wing as being diametrically opposed to their positions.  But not Jimmy Dore.  You have to ask yourself why that is.

the current democrat party seems to think misogyny is noticing women in any way sexually which is nuts.

so trump is not in any way prejudiced against women.

me neither.

I support the empowerment of women.

now here is a woman who knows just how to take a man in hand.

You didn't really answer Bogie's questions:

1 - Why do you seem not to support Warren when you support Sanders, since they hold basically the same policy positions? Is this a mis-characterization of your feeling on Warren? If not, what is it about Warren that puts off your support?

2 - Do shows like Dore's, who claim to be progressive/left, but spend the majority of their time criticizing other members of the left and/or Democrats (or at least the majority of the clips that you feel like posting on here), while spending little-to-no time on conservative/Republican criticism, do more to damage the left than outright right-wing media outlets?

Regarding point two, the book that I read (but cannot recall which at this point) proved that this was a paid tactic from the far right.  People like Dore knowingly are working for the right wing and undermining the democrats.

They are rigging the election again against Bernie Sanders, just like last time, only even more obviously. They are bringing him out of so important Iowa in order that, as a Senator, he sit through the Impeachment Hoax Trial. Crazy Nancy thereby gives the strong edge to Sleepy...
....Joe Biden, and Bernie is shut out again. Very unfair, but that’s the way the Democrats play the game. ..........

Indeed.  Trump loves to play up the 'poor poor mistreated Bernie' card as that will keep his supporters at home when he doesn't win the nomination.  Jimmy Dore does the exact same thing.  He works for the Republicans.

I like Bernie but even I can see through this.

Uh,  the Dems are highly divided,   due to NON Dem progressives like Sanders running as a Dem when it meets his needs and identity politics.

Of course Trump \ GOP is promoting that but they don't really need to;  the Dems are capable of messing things up without assistance.

E.g.  Today's L.A. Times; 2 letters to the editor criticizing the Times lack of coverage of people-of-color candidates.

Based on their names I assume they are people-of-color.      Are these folks secret operatives of the GOP like Joe Dore?

Give me a break.

It's doubtful they were "secret operatives", but that also doesn't mean that there aren't efforts funded by conservative PACs that are sowing this kind of divisiveness, primarily via social media. In fact, such tactics were discovered and made public in the past few years, orchestrated by Steve Bannon and other right-wing figures. It was posted about on here quite a bit at the time, but one can be forgiven for forgetting about it, given the glut of info posted on here on a daily basis.

Of course there are efforts by conservatives AND liberals that are sowing divisiveness using the media.      This has occurred since the beginning of time but due to social media is now highlighted since it is very effective (dummies easily influenced  at a website like Facebook or Twitter!).

What we are seeing is standard campaign tactics \ dirty politics;       This being the primary season,   the tactic is being used by Dems against Dems since the GOP doesn't have a primary.        The latest  "Sanders is sexist" meme was created and pushed by Warren "operatives" to gain an edge and to motivate women to support Warren.     A.O.C.  is the number-one Dem sowing Dem divisiveness.

I guess my overall point here is that,  while there are GOPers that are trying to sow Dem divisiveness I assume the majority of what I read in letter-to-The-Times or on this website (the only one I'm on related to politics),   and legit;   i.e.  sincere post by Dems.      Of course I could be mistaken since there isn't an easy way to vet it,  but if what they are saying is logical or factual,   does it really matter?

None of this matters to me, really. Ultimately, all I have is my own vote, and nothing else.

I'll be voting for whoever is up against Trump. I'm not a registered Democrat, so I can't vote in the primary here even if I wanted to.

Where any of the rest of you get your news or info isn't really a concern of mine beyond the rhetorical, nor is how you will vote, or anything else you have to say about anything, really. We're just shooting the breeze on a message board, as far as I'm concerned, and really, everything we post is just for argument's sake.

Well said.    I'm also anyone-but-Trump.     But I did re-register as a Dem (just yesterday)  so I could vote in the CA primary.   I'll be voting for Klobuchar assuming she is still running in March.    Otherwise I don't know who I will support (maybe Mayor Pete,   but I admit that would be just so religious nut-jobs would have a gay President and first-man in the White House,  ha ha!).       Here in So Cal they are making it real easy to vote;   voting is open for  10 days at various "polling centers" and NOT just one day at a very local location.

I had a PS to add to my other post,  but I'll just post it here:

PS:   The L.A. Times covered today's LA Women march on the front page;  it was a very balanced article;  I.e. it covered how the group misfired in many areas (misuse of funds,   "supporting" Farrakhan which upset the Jewish community,   3 out of the 4 founders resigned,   Emily' List and other women groups are no longer  associated with it,,,,etc...).     It also covered Trump and how his blatant sexism is impacting America.

I'm cracking wise here Larry,  but you don't think the Times is a secret operative of the GOP!     (but I do wonder if someone else does).

I would have had more confidence in your opinion if you had blamed the Russians.

It is funny than you have such a healthy scepticism when it comes to your own government and the mainstream media but none where it comes to some goof in a basement with a microphone that is doing his damdest to derail the very causes he purports to support and offers no criticism of the right wing which you would think he opposes.

There's enough in these two videos to comprehend where jimmy dore is coming from.

Perhaps when it comes to foreign policy and only foreign policy he is critical and longs for the Trump of the campaign days.  Besides that he completely gives Trump a pass and attacks the democrats.  Like yourself as a matter of fact.

You still have not answered Lawrence's two questions.  Why are you avoiding that?
