thomasina
Saw this movie as a child in the 60's with my mom. It was an older movie in black and white, and the suspense came from shadows that appeared on a wall (possible in a round tower with a circling staircase) and i seem to remember they came from a clock but not sure. I think my mom mentioned that a Barrymore was in it. Have been trying to identify this movie for 40 years, all help appreciated!!!!

Could be The Spiral Staircase (1945), starring Dorothy McGuire, George Brent and Ethel Barrymore. TCM shows it from time to time. Now I see it's on the schedule, Monday Apr. 18, 10PM, Eastern. Hope this is what you're looking for. Edited April 13, 2016 by BelleLeGrand1

thomasina
The Big Clock was not the movie in mind, but thanks for the suggestions and I did love watching The Big Clock. In the movie I saw, the center of the suspense came from shadows that were cast on a wall (in a tower or belfry type space i think). The shadows were from light (possible sun light) shining on a clock, like a cuckoo clock that has figures on that come out and circle. The shadows of the figures are cast on a wall. Any other ideas?? BelleLeGrand1
So, is The Spiral Staircase not the movie either? Did you see it when it aired in April? If that's not it, I guess it's back to square one.
