aagarrett
I remember a movie a long time ago about Seebees on a South Pacific island during the second world war. They had a pet mule (?), which was captured by some natives on the island. It would have been a mid to late 40's production. Anyone remember this one? slaytonf
I know it sounds silly, but how about Francis, the Talking Mule, with Donald O'Connor?: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/75578/Francis/ Click on Full Synopsis for a detailed exposition of the plot. dlk44
Two Questions: Was it a comedy? Was it B&W or color ?
dlk44
The movie "South Pacific " had Seabees and natives in it. I don't know about a mule. It was a 1958 film though.
MilesArcher
It could be "Gallant Bess", a 1946 MGM film with Marshall Thompson. It was based on a true story, but Gallant Bess was a horse, not a mule. It has been shown on TCM.

aagarrett
I considered Gallant Bess... Did the natives steal her ? I cannot remember all the details, but the natives captured the horse for a time in the movie I was thinking of, possibly Gallant Bess.
