Who Said That? (Offscreen Quotes)

Recommended Posts

Thank you, Starlit.

Describing a costar, this person said:

"He wasn't very tall; vocally he had a range from A to B; his eyes were like shiny coal nuggets pressed deep into his skull; and his smile was a mistake that he tried to keep from happening. He was no movie hero. He was no hero at all".

I Initially had the right answer, but I couldn't verify it until the last hint.

So I just waited--

Definitely one of my favorite movies because I've got the DVD. It is Mary Astor talking about the first time she saw Humphrey Bogart on the set of the Maltese Falcon.

Now I wonder what she thought the first time she saw Peter Lorre?

Mary was wonderful in The Great Lie because Bette Davis was so good to her-- making her look good-- while Hattie McDaniel did the same thing for Bette!
