“The blunt assessments show just how much has changed in the weeks since President Donald Trump’s predictions that the virus would soon pass, and his suggestions that much of the economy could be up and running by Easter”

Trump keeps giving people bad medical advice about the safety of hydroxychloroquine: "It can help them, but it's not going to hurt them. That's the beauty of it...what do you have to lose?"

I admit: I can only take so many minutes of Trump's fake hushed tones & his thinly veiled nastiness toward any reporter who questions his shameful abuse of power to hustle for unproven Hydroxychloroquine. What a tragedy to have a dangerous imposter at the podium day after day.

Trump continues tonight to put the onus on states over the federal government: “We’re supposed to be the backup. But, like in Illinois, the governor couldn’t do his job. ... We are meant to be the backup, but we've taken on a much bigger role than that."

Trump: "Did anybody in this room think a thing like this could happen?"

There were years and years of pandemic warnings from US intelligence, public health experts, and even from top officials in Trump's administration.

Trump on his optimism today: "We're seeing things that we don't even report," because we think it's too early to tell the public about them.

Fauci: It isn't contradictory to say this is going to be a bad week and there's light at the end of the tunnel. This being a bad week is a reflection of what happened 2.5 weeks ago; if we now see a flattening of cases, doesn't take away the fact that this'll be a bad week.

Asked if he's worried that people will say in seven days that they've done their best but just need to leave their houses, Fauci says, "I don't think it's going to happen."

Dr. Fauci: Right now, we are seeing that this is probably going to be a really bad week. The "potential light at the end of the tunnel" is that curve may flatten and cases may fall. These aren't contradictory statements.s Key to future: "It's mitigation, mitigation, mitigation."

Trump interrupts and won't let Fauci answer about his view of the anti-malarial drugs that Trump promotes. "He's answered that question 15 times," Trump says.

Trump cuts off an Associated Press reporter who was attempting to ask about this report showing that federal agencies largely waited until mid-March to begin placing bulk orders of N95 masks, ventilators & other equipment needed by health care workers.

BREAKING: A tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for Covid-19. 6 other tigers and lions at the zoo are also showing symptoms. Believed to have been infected by an asymptomatic zoo worker. All doing well. To my knowledge, this is the first animal to test positive in the U.S.
