Pressed on the Capt Crozier firing, Pres Trump says "looks to me like he's an outstanding guy," but thinks he knows it was wrong to have written a letter about the Coronavirus outbreak that got into the media. "I'm sure he feels he made a mistake." But will look into the matter.

The only reason he isn’t honest about his administration’s response seems to be because Fox News and other conservative outlets keep giving him cover to say anything he wants.

the families and friends of the 10,000 Americans who are now dead from the pandemic--

The apology is worth a careful read. Modly’s speech said the captain was “naive” or “stupid,” or else sought the leak “on purpose. And that’s a serious violation” of military law. Modly withdraws “naive” or “stupid,” but says Crozier had “the intention” to get “public attention.”
