Based on the record so far of the Trump years — and especially of the crisis-infused year we are in now — it borders on crazy to imagine that the balance of 2020 will unfold without becoming even more crazy

Donald Trump wants American kids and their teachers crammed back into school buildings this fall, where they may get sick or become covid carriers and infect their families just so he can have an image of “normalcy” to run for re-election on, consequences be damned. Take that in.

As @JonLemire just stated on @Morning_Joe, there is no evidence that he even cares about American students or families. He only cares about himself, and about finding an applause line for his denialist base. This is not a presidency. I don’t even know what to call it.

Donald Trump will go down in American history as easily our worst president ever. For however long this country lasts, that dishonor will be his. No matter how dismally a future president may fail, he or she can't be the "worst president ever," but merely "the worst since Trump."

Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district were moved from "toss up" to "lean Democrat."

It similarly moved Michigan to "lean Democrat" last month.

• Maine moved from "lean Democrat" to "likely Democrat." And its 2nd congressional district, which grants its electoral vote separately, moved from "likely Republican" to "lean Republican."

• Georgia moved from "lean Republican" to "toss up."

BREAKING: The Supreme Court has carved out a giant exception to the nation's fair employment laws — ruling 7-2 that federal employment discrimination laws do not apply to teachers whose duties include instruction in religion at schools run by religious institutions.

The ruling appears to leave lay teachers — and potentially other employees of religious hospitals, universities and charities — unprotected by the nation's fair employment laws.

No more SCOTUS rulings today: Roberts, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Gorsuch are the only ones without opinion assignments from the May session yet with three decisions left.

All remaining rulings, including two Trump tax cases and the OK territorial case, will be released TOMORROW.

In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!

Germany, Denmark and Norway actually reduced the number of daily new coronavirus cases. You, on the other hand, denied the severity of the pandemic, refused to wear a mask, recommended unsafe drugs, and allowed 130,000 Americans to die, and thus we haven't flattened the curve.

NYC schools -- the nation's largest district w/about 1.1 million kids -- will NOT fully reopen in the Fall, Mayor DeBlasio said Wednesday. Classroom attendance will instead be limited to only 1-3 days per week in an effort to continue to curb the spread of COVID-19.

A good article.  This portion is cutting to the chase ...

Stop saying Trump is ‘in denial.’ The truth is much worse.

............

Not clueless and hapless. Malevolent.

Once we dispense with the idea that Trump remains “in denial,” we’re left with a few interpretations. The most charitable is that Trump continues to have principled disagreements with experts over these matters, but there are zero indications he has any substantively grounded views on them of any kind.

A far less charitable interpretation is that he’s merely indifferent to the catastrophic consequences that are resulting from these failures — and will continue to do so — and that he’s prioritizing nakedly self-interested political calculations over any such concerns.

Trump has been steadily wrong in these political calculations, to be sure. At each stage, he has believed not acting was in his immediate interests, only to discover the consequences of inaction proved politically worse.

There may have been a species of denial at play in those faulty political calculations — a misguided faith in his magical ability to re-create his political reality through the force of will and tweet. But we can’t pretend any longer that Trump isn’t perfectly aware of what the real-world consequences of his actions — or inactions — will be.

The press critic Jay Rosen has repeatedly suggested that the effort to obscure Trump’s role in this ongoing fiasco is producing one of the biggest propaganda and disinformation campaigns in modern history. Central to getting this right is dispensing with the idea that Trump is a hapless, clueless actor rather than a deliberate and malevolent one.

"In common language he is evil."

How long have some of us been saying this only to be accused of having TDS!

*Bogie that goes for you and me both--

Now people have a right to support trump if they want to.............

*However, some people who claim NOT to be trump supporters--

Yet have the audacity to accuse others of TDS--

Need to take a good hard look in the mirror  as to what their motivation really is.

Are they trying to do a false equivalency between the 2 political parties?

Or are they simply people who really want to support trump--

They like some of his policies--

But simply don't have the guts to do it in public?

Or, very unfortunately,  are they just cowards and afraid of the power they feel trump and his supporters have-- in other words they've been intimidated . :o

It's not about TDS at all--

It's ALL about the survival of the republic and democracy and the civil rights for ALL under the Constitution.

You can't make a wrong, right--

And trump as President is wrong in every way.

Pres Trump formally welcomes Pres Lopez Obrador to the US. Says US/Mexico relationship has never been stronger or closer. Pledges to strengthen the bond further, citing importance of the USMCA trade agreement. Looks for the two nations to take their relationship to "new heights."
