Do You Know Me?

Thank you. This MIGHT be easy.

I was once fired from a production of Macbeth where I played the role of Seyton. The lead actor had been making demeaning comments about my heritage. On opening night, during Act V, Macbeth turns to Seyton and says, "Wherefore was that cry?" I was supposed to reply, "The queen, my lord, is dead," after which Macbeth goes into his famous soliloquy about "Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow." Instead I replied, "Oh, don't worry. She's fine. She'll be up and about in ten minutes."

Another clue:

I was hesitant to take my last movie role, but my Granddaughter threatened to never speak to me again if I didn't.

I was pretty rowdy and a drunkard, but so were my best actor friends. As a matter of fact, I once disappeared for 3 weeks on a drinking binge. Nobody knew where I was including my wife. When I finally rang the doorbell upon my return and she answered, all I could think of to say to save myself was:

Why didn't you pay the ransom?

Aye, Emgee, right you are.

Harris, Burton, O'Toole, ahhhhh the stories they would tell about each other on the old talk shows ala Dick Cavett, David Frost and Merv Griffin.

Harris' Granddaughter threatened him with silence if he did not take the role of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies.

Your turn to give this thread a wee go round.

Yes, Celts and drink, it's an old and cherished bond.

and we go on with:

I was born in the Bronx and started acting in high school. After WW II i studied at the famous Actors Studio.

During the Fifties i worked in television and only got my big break into the movies at the end of the decade. I starred in a classic movie, based on a TV play.

Another favourite; he obviously chose his friends well. Didn't know that story, but makes perfect sense.

And now :

I was born in upstate New York, but moved many times before settling in New York. My stage name is a combination of my two greatest historical heroes.

I started out in B-westerns in the silent era.
